An online space for the vegans of Lemmy.
Rules and miscellaneous:
- We take for granted that if you engage in this community, you understand that veganism is about the animals. You either are vegan for the animals, or you are not (this is not to say that discussions about climate/environment/health are not allowed, of course)
- No omni/carnist apologists. This is not a place where to ask to be hand-holded into veganims. Omnis coddling/backpatting is not tolerated, nor are /r/DebateAVegan-like threads
- Use content warnings and NSFW tags for triggering content

This is exactly the kind of attitude that nullifies a potential reduction in ischemic heart disease with dietary deficiencies like B12. From what I could find, there are many potential health benefits from a vegan diet (lacto-ovo-vegetarian diets even more so) and yet I found a study that seems to show no significant difference in mortality rates between vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
wait being vegan doesnt make you immortal????
Look, of course getting the right nutrition is an important part of your diet. Where or when do you learn this? I do not remember this being a big part of my education. Instead it was part of becoming a vegan because everyone was like "NOO! It is dangerous!!!", so i guess thanks to that i now know much more and get my blood checked regularly. My point is: People are already hurting themselves by eating junk, eating not enough vegetables and fruits and too much highly prpcessed meats. Are they warned (like vegans are)? Not really, but why?
