I agree. Maybe it was just easier to gloss over that in the manga, but I don't remember it being so unnecessarily drawn out. Maybe it's like that in the light novel? At any rate it really doesn't fit the tone of the series in the beginning, so it just comes across as incredibly tasteless and awkward.

The storytelling wasn't bad by any means, but it was probably the weakest aspect after the music direction. It's possible that my viewing experience differed due to not having played the video game or knowing anything about the world from the tabletop rpg.
For all I know this might not taste like shit, but that presentation is more of an insult than anything else.
This is such an incredibly naive take that has already been proven wrong by multiple publishers going out of their way to do exactly what you just said. There's also a ton of abandonware which is not being sold and never will be again.

Magnets could work for the steel sculptures. Maybe some kind of thin wire for the bronze statues? I'm sure there are ways to make this work that don't mess with the surface finish of the statues and the concern about damaging them is legitimate.
