/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

I'm glad Neuralink has developed such essential technology. I can't think of a better use of a brain implant than not sleeping and playing Civilization.

s5e6 "The Game"

Wesley Crusher returns to the Enterprise on vacation from the Academy only to discover a mysterious alien game infiltrating and controlling the crew.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It seems to be infiltrating her alright...

[–] ummthatguy 15 points 10 months ago

I mean, it's no candle ghost, but it'll do.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I can't criticize it because I use essential technology to do the same thing.

[–] FlyingSquid 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Did it require surgery at a cost of millions of dollars?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

No but my back hurts way more than it should

[–] FlyingSquid 6 points 10 months ago

You presumably have a homo sapiens back but you aren't a hunter-gatherer. I don't know about "more than it should." I don't know that I've yet to meet someone over 40 without at least occasional back pain.

I can't think of a better use of a brain implant than not sleeping and playing Civilization.

I can come up with a few:

  1. Showing advertisement while the recipient is sleeping. Use a positive feedback loop in order to increase engagement.

  2. Using it to fly bomb carrying drones

  3. Create jobs that have only one requirement - having such an implant.

Charge $8 a month for Neuralink Plus to enable long-term memories?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

Omg, that's the innovation I was looking for

He's paralyzed from the neck down and can now use a computer like a regular person. Not sure what there is to be sarcastic about.
