one of the things I miss most about not being the town fuckup anymore is setting my alarm for 6am, eating an adderall and then going back to bed. I tended to come back around about 45-90 minutes later and for just a second it felt like I'd actually rested and woke up ready to greet the day until I remembered that I was just high, but it was nice overall.

If it ever turns out I actually have ADHD and I'm not just gaslighting myself, then actually get prescribed Adderall, I'm going to try that because I forget what it's like to wake up rested.

unfortunately based on a lot of testimony I've heard from people who really do have ADHD it doesn't work like that for people that actually have it.

Yeah if your dosage is correct it doesn't have much of a stimulate effect. Now forget you took the pill earlier and have another, you'll mildly feel something but even then it's not much.

Yeah, I don't get high. My brain just becomes quiet.

Yeah. Getting high is fun and all but it's not a good way to work. If the dosing strategiy is correct you don't feel the drug but still obtain the cognitive enhancement i.e. executive function.

Damn, was really putting my eggs in that basket. Caffeine has no effect on me, sleeping more doesn't do much, was hoping the magical focus drug would. Still might give it a shot legally under the advisement of a doctor but I appreciate you bracing me!

one of the things I miss most about the being hungry is setting my alarm for 6am, the joy of dopamine and reward my body gave me for eating breakfast and then going back to bed. I tended to come back around about 45-90 minutes later and it felt like I wasn't actually hungry anymore and woke up ready to greet the day until I remembered that I was just not hungry anymore, but it was nice overall.

That's one of the silliest most reductive things I've ever heard anyone say lol. You really didn't pay attention much when the doctor talked to you or looked up stuff on your own? That tracks though I suppose huh...

Also, you reaaaaaaaaaally need to try drugs, you're missing out if you think that's being high.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adderall for the curious.

The two amphetamine enantiomers that compose Adderall (levoamphetamine and dextroamphetamine) alleviate the symptoms of ADHD and narcolepsy by increasing the activity of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain, which results in part from their interactions with human trace amine-associated receptor 1 (hTAAR1) and vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) in neurons. Dextroamphetamine is a more potent Central nervous system (CNS) stimulant than levoamphetamine, but levoamphetamine has slightly stronger cardiovascular and peripheral effects and a longer elimination half-life than dextroamphetamine. The levoamphetamine component of Adderall has been reported to improve the treatment response in some individuals relative to dextroamphetamine alone. Adderall's active ingredient, amphetamine, shares many chemical and pharmacological properties with the human trace amines, particularly phenethylamine and N-methylphenethylamine, the latter of which is a positional isomer of amphetamine.[sources 2] In 2021, Adderall was the seventeenth most commonly prescribed medication in the United States, with more than 30 million prescriptions.[33][34]
