If your country's economy is based on a single basic commodity, you're going to have a bad time. These countries tend to be brutal dictatorships.

I didn't say I wanted it based on a single commodity I said I wanted my country to have more oil.

Those countries were dictatorships before they had oil and the ones around them they don't have oil at dictatorships
