Buddy what are you not getting here? Moderates will never allow this to happen.
I think you didn't read anything past that part. My point was that that isn't happening, therefore these are the rules for this, so not participating is spoiling the vote. The US has comically low voter turnout. If people left of center keep voting third party or withholding their vote, they help the right win today which will shift the Overton window further right tomorrow.
