It will be out exactly 30 years after Beverly Hills Cop 3.

Is that the longest ever between official sequels?

Well Eddy Murphy's other recent movie was Coming 2 America in 2021. Which was a sequel to Coming to America from 1988. Blade runner 2049 is a later sequel though with 35 years, not sure if it's the longest.

Perhaps it will rank up there with the most unnecessary!

Right! Coming 2 America appeared 33 years later and Blade Runner 2049 appeared 35 years later!

Well then BHC 4 is not that impressive anymore 😄 Let's hope it's at least decent

Not sure how much time has to pass for time and space to loop back around so we can see how long Star Wars Ep 4 was after Star Wars Ep 3

True. Star Wars complicates the question, since Episode 1 came 16 years after Episode 3, but Episode 1 is a prequel and the real sequel appeared 32 years later.

Still, this feels different since we didn't have to wait 32 full years for more content expanding the saga
