Replacement for r/steamdeck_linux.

As Lemmy doesn't have flairs yet, you can use these prefixes to indicate what type of post you have made, eg:
[Flair] My post title

The following is a list of suggested flairs:
[Discussion] - General discussion.
[Help] - A request for help or support.
[News] - News about the deck.
[PSA] - Sharing important information.
[Game] - News / info about a game on the deck.
[Update] - An update to a previous post.
[Meta] - Discussion about this community.

Some more Steam Deck specific flairs:
[Boot Screen] - Custom boot screens/videos.
[Selling] - If you are selling your deck.

These are not enforced, but they are encouraged.

Looks like this only works on Steam Deck, on windows PC looks like it doesn't work

It actually does, funnily enough. You have to set an environment variable for it to work though.

Here's a Steam guide.

Now the question is: are they going to be complete assholes and change this check to prevent non Deck players from using it or not?

Doubtful they’ll sabotage it, the guide indicates the fix is from Activision, with guides for non-steamdeck configuration on linux and windows.

The environment variable is the official way to check for Steam Deck. Other tricks may break on Proton updates.

Someone in that thread posted a guide for getting it working on Linux and Windows without being online.
