Oh yeah that really sucks. I’ve definitely set fire to a few ladders. There’s one in the underdark with a trap at the bottom that sets fire to it if you’re not careful that is just sadistic.
I shrugged at that one and said "guess I don't need to go that way"
You can get a big jump ritual on one character and then it's easy to get anywhere
