All posts must begin with YSK. If you're a Mastodon user, then include YSK after @youshouldknow. This is a community to share tips and tricks that will help you improve your life.
Rule 2- Your post body text must include the reason "Why" YSK:
**In your post's text body, you must include the reason "Why" YSK: It’s helpful for readability, and informs readers about the importance of the content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding non-YSK posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-YSK posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
If you are a member, sympathizer or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
For further explanation, clarification and feedback about this rule, you may follow this link.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- The majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.
Unless included in our Whitelist for Bots, your bot will not be allowed to participate in this community. To have your bot whitelisted, please contact the moderators for a short review.
Rule 11- Posts must actually be true: Disiniformation, trolling, and being misleading will not be tolerated. Repeated or egregious attempts will earn you a ban. This also applies to filing reports: If you continually file false reports YOU WILL BE BANNED! We can see who reports what, and shenanigans will not be tolerated.

Are comments marked in some way to show when edited like reddit was?
Are titles?
Like could I write a post/comment "how often do you call your parents" and after everyone comments, once a week, once a day, oh god never, etc,
Edit the post/comment to say "how often do you eat poop"
And then sit back and chuckle softly to myself? Or would it say *(edited)
It should.
Edit: edit check
I'm on lemmy.world and I can see the time and date your comment was posted and same for edited.
Kbin doesn't show it though, so not every software will show the edit tag.
EDIT: Turns out that Kbin doesn't seem to have implemented that yet.
Yeah, I have a kbin account and noticed the same thing. I keep going back and forth between the two. I understand why it's implemented, but I'm not sure I entirely like the idea of having every favorite being visible to the public. At least they're only visible on the specific comment/ post but not visible from the user profile.
seconding this, i am also on lemmy.world and can also see it. although i did have to look around for it a little bit
When a post is edited (title or otherwise), a little pencil icon is shown to tell you it’s edited, just like comments.
Sweet good to know.
Doesn't seem to show that for me on jerboa but ehh
On jerboa it has how long ago it was posted, then how long ago it was edited in the top right of the comment
It would be a nice feature to see the change history so that you can see that it was a typo fix or clarification or complete replacement.
I'm looking at this comment through kbin.social and I am not seeing any indication that you edited it.
Hopefully the developers work on that.
I'm not seeing any indication on kbin
There doesn't seem to be any indication on kbin, for anyone wondering.
Doesn’t seem to show any indication of editing on Mlem yet.
Using Jerboa on Android and I think I see an edit timestamp, but it is rather discreet and not super useful for your edit since it was so close in time. It looks like it lists: timeOfPost (timeOfEdit), so for example:19h (19h).
A more prominent indication of an edit would probably be good to have.
Edit: spelling
on Lemmy.world if I hover over the little pencil icon I see Created: [date] Modified [date] Non-modified comments in this thread show no pencil. That's pretty slick.
