My mums partner is addicted to his PlayStation. He doesn't cook, clean, or help with anything when he's not at work because he just spends all his time smoking, drinking, and playing PlayStation. Over the weekend, it shit itself. It doesn't turn on. So he found an old Xbox 360 that my mum had in storage, and that worked for 24 hours before shitting itself too. Now he's walking around the house, banging cupboards and being a cunt because he can't play his videogames. Any minute now he's gonna spin some story to blame me. Giant man baby

Is this the guy who won't eat her cooking either. He sounds like quite the loser. I sometimes worry that I'm too far down on the piece of shit scale but I hear things like this and am reminded there's many more steps I can fall down.

That's the same guy!

God this shit reminds me of my ex-stepdad (it's just he'd get pissy with me when I decide to...you know, live in the living room). I hope that your mum can do something. If not, do you have any safe spaces to go to?

Hes gonna end up like that dude who pulled a knife on people to drive him to gamestop

These people are barely functional

That's a bit harsh imo. It sounds like an addiction much the same as alcoholism. Just dissociating from reality where possible, in this instance with PlayStation. Certainly sounds like a big problem but I think your comment is a bit much

Nah the guy gets his dinner cooked for him by his partner and then gives it to the dog in front of her. He's an abusive drop kick.

I guess I didn't have the full context. I get a bit frustrated where people are blamed for pathological behaviour where they don't necessarily have control over it, or the circumstances that caused it. Not to say that OPs mum should be putting up with him at all

He’s got some other problems like refusing to eat food cooked for him and being aggressive about it though.

So...why is your mum with him? I'm genuinely curious.

I think she feels like she has to be with someone to be happy or whatever. They've been together for about 15 years, so I think she also doesn't want to feel like a failure and would rather put up with it than be alone. I've asked her before why she even bothers with him, but she gets mad and says that I wouldn't understand

That's a sad, but at least an honest answer.

Honestly though some people act like being single is the worst thing that could ever happen to you. It's really not. It's a much worse fate to be with someone you're not all that fond of.
