I noticed I wasn't able to find my community on your communities search, because no one on your instance has searched it yet. I'd appreciate if someone could give my instance a search just to federate it on your instance :) And of course, sub if you're interested in cinematography, movies, behind the scenes, etc.

Some people say that your instance doesn't matter, but I wouldn't want my username to be affiliated with something I'm not aligned with.

For example, I wouldn't want my username to be @[email protected]

Having [email protected] acts like an advertisement for that particular instance wherever you comment on the fediverse.

So if you had @[email protected] , a reader right off the bat would see that you're into film and might want to check out the other communities on that specialized instance.

Whereas @[email protected] it might not be as evident. They might think you're into photography instead since lemmy.world is more of a general purpose instance.
