Whoa, it's wild seeing the map of "places that ban us"
Kind of. "Places that an adult in their own home has to register with the state to see porn, so pornhub disables the state"
They try to regulate porn by mandating a user show their id to the provider, and they totally won't abuse that list of users at all they pinky swear
the worst thing about this is that the VPNs people use to get around it will mess up the data. we may never know which state really looked up flogging the most on valentine's day :(
Apparently Louisiana was “smart” and allows a third party to do this for them, called AllpassTrust. Pornhub is fine with this type of verification, which is why LA is the only southern state here (GA isn’t southern enough).
Yeah, if it was just age verification there are third party services that do it in a secure way, and I've always said we could implement things like you verify with your browser that you're over 18, and at the protocol level it would the allow or deny
Of course age verification isn't the actual goal, so none of those privacy respecting approaches are ever considered in most places. Download what you can now, I'm guessing this is coming for the nation
