Oh cool, they added color to the area that gets covered by a case

[–] khannie 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Oh transparent case (with bump edges) all the way for me. They go a little yellow after some time so need replacing.

They allow you to see dust buildup which I unfortunately discovered on my last phone starts to cause lots of little micro scratches over time.

I have a few cheapy cases. I have a dark one for when I need to look nicer so the phone doesnt stand out. I've got a clear one (white phone) and I've got a bright red one as well. The red one is extra grippy and the brightest color and I use that one when I'll be in the woods or taking a lot of pics so I don't drop it, and if I do it will stand out. All cases around $10 and have kept my phone looking nice. I've also printed out cool backgrounds like a Samauri Jack one that I threw under the clear case on my old phone, but the ink eventually stained the case.

so I don’t drop it, and if I do it will stand out.

That is actually genius.

There is method to my madness! 🤪

Also just works well when putting my phone down random places or near someone else's phone. I can always spot it much faster with a louder color case. Then I have the dark one for when a neon color phone would look too out of place or just draw unwanted attention like an event or nice dinner.

It just adds a layer of flexibility that I find worth the price of a cheap case.

My wife decorated the back of her phone with stickers and got a clear case over it, looks pretty neat

[–] khannie 2 points 1 day ago

Oh that's a great idea.

Remember when we didn't put cases on phones? I kind of wish that trend would come back. Some phones are absolutely gorgeous and slapping an ugly case on it just ruins it.

One of the problems is that phones are so goddamn thin and slippery nowadays that it's hard to grip them without.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 16 hours ago

If they weren't all so slippery these days. And heavy.

[–] synapse1278 7 points 1 day ago

You mean that making phones that are heavy, slippery, breakable glass all around isn't the greatest design choice and that we have invented more durables, lightweight, shock resistant materials we use to make phones with but we have stopped doing that just for profit? Hum... 🤔

Caseless for the 4 years I’ve had this phone. Just don’t be reckless with it and don’t let your kids play with it.

I'd love to rock my phone caseless, but yeah they are just too goddamn thin slippery for me. I know you can wrap the phone in a decal to make it less slippery, but at that point you're still covering the look of the phone anyway.

Plus, due to the type of phone I have, I seem to require a particular case for reasons that other people don't necessarily need. Ex: my phone case has this sort of ring attachment that is much smaller than a pop socket that has become essential for me. I don't have a way to attach it to my phone directly.

Let me introduce you to myself. Glass phone with regularly dry hands. If I had no case this thing would fly out of my hands all the time.
