Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

Didn't mandalorian establish that the empire canonically improved every system they touched?
It was the Empire high command workers who said that as a justification for their actions, the guys recruited by the republic in Operation Paperclip style.

By "improved" you mean in efficiency?
Because only stupid people go improving efficiency above all else in any system. Even in simple for profit corporations.

Except if you are a farmer, or accused of some crime, or depended on honest work to survive...
Or, in other words, yes, exactly!
Ehhh... Well, in computer processing it does play a huge role in heat transfer requirements which has often driven transistor density.
But fair to say efficiency is often more likely to create induced demand rather than a net reduction in consumption
Higher fuel economy -> more ~~cars~~ interplanetary frigates
Cheaper logistics -> more goods transported between systems
Faster internet -> more galactic utilization
More railways -> lower profit for the ~~car~~ speeder industry, uhh... Wait! I meant more transit by rail demand?
