An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine or advice forum.
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions, identify objects or get advice. We accept very few questions, and they must be over topics much more difficult than what is easily discoverable with a search. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. Not hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

8. All polls must have an "Africa, by Toto" option. Why? Because we hear the drums echoing tonight.

I live a bachelor lifestyle, so I have no food in here. Just alcohol. I hope the mouse figures that out and goes away. I should get some traps in case it doesn't. I hate killing animals but there's no practical alternative.

If you get a glue trap, they're stuck, and now you have to deal with a live, suffering animal. If you get a regular mouse trap, they'll almost certainly have their necks immediately, and humanely broken before you find them. I know that's still not great, but it's the better of the options available. I know of no animal-rights person that wants rats crawling over them while they sleep...

I use the snap traps, although the last time I did that, I had to execute a few mortally wounded mice, which was not fun. So many mice were coming into my old house that I resorted to rat poison there (I don't expect things to get that bad here) but glue traps are over the line for me.

We're on the same side. I had a mouse in the 3rd floor of my first apartment building, and had to humanely put it out of its ❔mystery❓ when I finally caught it. ☹️ I haven't used a glue trap since then...

*DAMN YOU, AUTOCORRECT!

I know it's a autocorrect, but "humanely put out of it's mystery" is exquisite boneappletea

That is pretty great...

They climb pretty well, because I'm 14 stories up.

Yeah, that definitely came down from one of your neighbors...

Maybe it took the stairs.

Check out the electric mouse traps. Mouse walks in, there’s a snap sound, mouse is instantly dead. Worked well for me
