I'll admit, I went to the Netherlands knowing conceptually of a number system, and expecting to plan it that way, but could not figure it out.
No app or map I could find would give me a simple list of numbers (partly because what apps did exist were Dutch-only), and when I travelled in the direction of one signpost, I ended up on intersecting/branching public streets that didn't have any numerical signposts. Plus, I was constantly getting detoured by construction. I ended up relying entirely on Google Maps.
