Based on the Wikipedia plot synopsis. I can't say if you're an asshole. But you do seem quite wrong.

Nah, the trappings are different, but they both have the theme of monotonous soul sucking work, where the MC is only able to confront these issues after some supernatural/mental event.

I honestly didn’t even think of the hypnotism aspect of Office Space when I made the comment. But that really does fall in line.
