RULES (updated 01/22/25)
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
- Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
- Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
- Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

You got THREE WHOLE days off?
Here in the USA the only time off I got was the actual day of Christmas. Also on Christmas Eve I was forced to show up at work... only to be sent home after a couple of hours without pay for the rest of the day - not enough customers, which you would have thought they could have guessed at that in advance but... no, they wanted to have their cake and eat it too (and b/c of the power imbalance, they got it).
And I also worry about my personal job in January, plus there's a nonzero chance that my entire country could literally engage in an actual, not-joking, full-on real & bloody civil war by then. Except that's far more unlikely now b/c we simply & preemptively surrendered to the side that was pushing to do it. So... yay? (now, trans people will still be murdered, but we won't call it that, b/c it'll be "legal" - see the difference? yeah, it's actually far worse in its way)
I'm honestly not trying to engage in a "life sux" competition with you - but rather trying to help show you that some things in your life are good, even as other things are surely bad, and while anyone's feelings must always be treated as valid, I hope that you take into account the good things you have as well as the bad. B/c there ARE good things that you have, even as there are definitely also bad. You can make yourself feel worse by ignoring the former and focus exclusively on the latter, or some people do worse and reverse that, but if you want, you can be happier by aiming somewhere in the middle?
e.g., you don't have to tell us, but if you want, you could try to find one thing that you enjoyed about those three days? Like, just before you lose your job (possibly, which you cannot control), at least you got to rest up a bit, which will help as you scramble to find a new one? Meh, you do you, I genuinely don't want to come across as trying to tell you what you "must" do. But I did want to say that you could do that, if you wanted... and doing so might help you to be happier, which you do seem to want?
