Summary

Quebec has passed a law banning the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2035 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Starting in 2034, advertising gas-powered vehicles of the 2035 model year or later will be prohibited, and by the end of 2035, selling or leasing new gas-powered vehicles will be banned.

Exceptions include emergency, rental, and off-road vehicles, while used gas-powered cars can still be resold and driven.

Quebec aims for 2 million EVs on its roads by 2030, though challenges remain as EV rebates phase out starting in 2025.

I’m all for it.

And I’m sure Musk and the US manufacturers are thrilled with the tariffs. Fuck you I’ll buy Chinese if I want to and can.

What do US tariffs have to do with Quebec?

Canada has announced/promised tariffs as well on Chinese EVs.

Nothing and that's the point: while the US will be stuck with Elon's Teslas, Canadians will get to use cheap and affordable Chinese EVs that actually compete with ICE cars in pricing and performance.

Yep. And European and Japanese manufacturers haven't caught up. Koreans are well on their way though.
