I would but I have never been able to successfully upload an image to Lemmy, no matter how much I compress and shrink it. And I'm supposed to be the computer genius in my family...

Somebody please explain the magic dimensions, file format & size I need to make image uploading work.

EDIT: To make clear, I'm sharing because I want to see your chill Sunday!

You could always use imgur and hotlink the image from imgur instead. This can allow you to try to bypass the sometimes frustrating image uploads to Lemmy. When you go to post it, it should look like this:

![](https://www.imgur.com/url)

Example using random imgur image:

Will show up as:

So all I need to to is add an exclamation mark to turn a link into a hotlink? It's really that simple?

Thank you.

Oh, the exclamation mark and empty brackets ![] is to turn it into an embedded image. hotlinking is just using an imgur link inside the parenthesis (https://www.imgur.com/image.jpg) instead of the built-in lemmy photo service (https://pictrs.lemmy.world/pictrs/image/somethingsomething.webp?format=webp)

Either way you're welcome, always happy to be helpful!

Yeah that's what I meant. Same difference as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks again.
