The PS5 is a great UHD Blu-Ray player. I see no reason why not get the disc version.

Need to leave some features out intentionally, to add later to the PS6 as a selling point and incentivise customers to upgrade!

More like Sony doesn't want to cannibalize selling their own dedicated Blu-ray players for a much higher profit margin.

A $100 bluray drive, an Ugoos am6, and coreelec can get play everything for way less than a high end bluray player that can cost $1000.

Its not entirely on sony though, DV comes with a hefty licensing fee, and would drive the console up by whatever that amount is.
