Their whole "state's rights" argument is such a tired lie. They use it for two reasons:

  1. To push off responsibilities that they don't want to deal with.
  2. As a temporary mask to hide unpopular decisions until they have the framework in place to push them through.

it's all part of the bigger "small government" lie. they don't want small government, they want a government that doesn't touch the 1% with any regulations whatsoever: taxation, regulation, labor laws, child labor laws, consumer protection laws, construction codes and standards, etc.

at the same time they want that "small government" to mandate who you're allowed to marry, what books your kids are allowed to read, and if they get their way, you better believe they'll enforce mandatory church/sunday school/bible study attendance. they're already getting away with private school vouchers and 10 commandments in class bullshit.

don't ever think "it can't happen here." because it's literally happening
