If you spend more than 15 minutes shitting, you should maybe add some fiber in your diet.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (2 children)

Could be IBS or IBD too – assuming you're getting enough fiber (which may or may not be true) with IBS adding more fiber does fuck-all (although probably won't hurt), and with IBD actually often makes things worse

edit: added note about needing enough fiber in the first place

I've got IBS-C and I'm one unhappy guy if I don't get enough fiber for a meal or two.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Oh yeah this is all of course assuming that someone's getting enough fiber already – lots of people don't. Especially US diets are often pretty fiber poor compared to eg. most parts of Europe

Really?

Fiber just gives me gas which makes the C much more painful. Although I've been on the Wegovy diet for a while now, and constipation is far less frequent when you can only physically consume 200 calories of food

Would drinking a little amount of magnesium help?

Taking extraordinarily long shits. It’s used as a laxative.

Oh it's very often not constipation that causes those long shits when you have IBS or IBD, and a laxative is the last thing you'd want. Both do potentially cause constipation, but there's better laxatives than magnesium – although apparently specifically with IBD magnesium might help with symptoms but we're not talking laxative doses

Got it. Thank you for letting me know!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

Welcome to the wonderful world of people pooping too much because their bodies hate them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (2 children)

What could possibly cause a long shit other than the shit moving too slow?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Diarrhea, it's great fun. Can be painful too depending on what kind of IBS or IBD someone has

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

Damage to the colon, or whatever muscles are responsible.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Idk I kinda liked those laxatives they gave me before my colonoscopy. Not eating and forcing down 3ltrs of foul liquid sucked, but afterwards I felt great!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

But the deal with IBS and IBD is that they can cause varying… uh, levels of diarrhea too – a purge might feel great but that shit (🥁) gets old pretty fast

[–] bruhduh 5 points 5 months ago (3 children)

How do i eat carbon fiber tho?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

With gusto and aplomb

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago
