Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Last windows I used on everything was 10. Got fed up with things randomly breaking from updates or just hanging due to updates. Had issues with their office products during a major project that made.me swear off their stuff entirely. Now I'm mostly on pop is and endeavor and have a steamdeck.
I still have a side machine that has windows for miscellaneous things that I don't feel like forcing to work in Linux.
I just want to use and own my machine. I don't want to have to ask permission from some company to do things and I want to own my files. I have seen Microsoft doing more and more shit trying to put user data in their little one drive prison and that makes me hella uncomfortable especially with them having AI projects to feed.
