Futurama had a joke that politicians solved climate change by dropping increasingly larger ice cubes into the ocean and pretending this solved the problem.
It's very depressing to think that even in this joke, the government agrees it's a problem and at least tries to take some short term measures to address it.
Reality is much more depressing than Futurama.
