Jfc. U.S. is determined to keep warring for profit.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 months ago (2 children)

It's been so profitable for nearly a hundred years, why stop now?

[–] oakey66 7 points 4 months ago

You're not wrong. But this is our tax payer money being flushed down the toilet to make war profiteering companies more money. I guess go buy some military contractor stocks since it doesn't look like we have any representatives that can actually stop this bullet train to WWIII.

A hundred years? All of human history more like.

War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.

Smedley Butler wrote that in 1935.

Yes, and for the US, that was nearly a hundred years ago.

[–] FlyingSquid -1 points 4 months ago

Read literally the second sentence I quoted.

[–] kescusay 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Uhh, Hezbollah is unequivocally the bad guys in that potential conflict. Doesn't make Israel the good guys, mind you...

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Huh? How so? Hezbollah, like everyone else actually doing something, want Israel to stop genociding Gaza.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Bro its guys with guns affiliated with Iran... These ain't our friends. But if they want to fight Israel good for them. About time Israel entered FO stage IMHO

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

And? Does that automatically make them the bad guys in anything they do? You just dropped a logical fallacy and left.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I am in the westoid camp and they funded by our geopolitical rival. Why would I shill for that shit?

Obviously if they want to check Israel, good for them! Fuck our greatest ally.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

So it's tribalism? I mean at least try to make it sound reasonable. Yes, fuck your greatest ally trying to commit genocide.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I am not following, what reason would have to support Iranian clown theology or its proxies?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

In this case they're the good side because they're trying to stop genocide so... that.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 4 months ago (2 children)

they're trying to stop genocide

Lol how naive is u?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

You'll need more argument in your argument before you get a response here.

[–] oakey66 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Hezbollah has been retaliating against Israeli aggression on Lebanon. Israel has been stepping up attacks on Lebanon in the past 6-8 months in an effort to (I assume) drag the US into a war with Iran. Iran who's actually been incredibly restrained in their responses to Israeli and American aggression.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 4 months ago

Neither US nor Iran have anything to gainnfrom this. Hopefully greatest ally fails. They are really creating a lot of needless problems, it is getting tiring.
