Is the assumption we would have still ended up in Afghanistan? With Gore as president im not sure that would be a guarantee.

Afghanistan was protecting bin Ladn. I think any President would have taken action.

There's a good chance that the 2003 Iraq war wouldn't have happened, though. That was very much a Neo-Con project of the Bush administration.

That's a whole other issue.

in my opinion, Bush Jr. was going to invade Iraq no matter what. 9/11 was just the excuse.

I thought this whole thought exercise was based on the assumption that Gore became president in 2000 instead of Bush?
