Y'all like water? Now get ready for water 2, thick edition. ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿ˜ซ

[โ€“] flicker 11 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I was caring for someone on a thickened liquids restriction and it is... awful. So many great things are made not great by thickening.

[โ€“] mojo_raisin 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh this real? I assumed it was AI. Excuse me while I vomit profusely.

People who have survived things like a stroke might have trouble swallowing liquids without choking, so you have to thicken them.

ETA; I think memory care patients go that way towards the end, too, like Alzheimer's.

Interesting, thanks, I was wondering.

just wait until you find out about heavy water.

[โ€“] Resol 4 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Isn't that just heavy water (D2O) chemically? Wouldn't that kill you if you consume too much of it?

Am I deserving of downvotes?

[โ€“] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

No, its a gel-thing for people who have problems swallowing

It basically just increases the viscosity.

[โ€“] Resol 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

How would that affect the human body?

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I suppose it would make hydration easier for stroke victims, like another comment said.

It also might make bathroom time a lot more scary.

I'd rather die from dehydration than buy bottled water.

[โ€“] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Then you are lucky you can drink the tap water where you are.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Hopefully they filter it themselves or have well water clean enough to drink. But that does seem like a tap water type of response, lol.

I think the message they're trying to convey is that plastic is bad for the environment and bottled water is one of the biggest contributers.

and also fuck nestle

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago

Well, lucky you, because you can buy the powder and add it to any water.

Also, yes, fuck bottled water.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

luckily for you, nestle believes that exact same thing!
