A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.

This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.

Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No political or social cause agenda pushing.

Been working away on these pair for a while. After seeing how much it was going to cost to buy an original I decided to make my own. One is inspired by the classic kit, the other by the original scratch built model from the Rogue Trader rule book. Both were printed on my Ender 3 with no supports.

They are available on my Cults3D page if anyone is interested.

This is a diorama I'm currently working on of a burning loyalist. The guy setting him on fire is going to be a word bearer. This will be my entry for my LGS's painting contest.

Starting my Necrons with the KT box. I wasn’t sure about the color scheme till I painted the blue lines which made it come alive.

Still not sure what to paint the bases other than black to get a good contrast. Open to any ideas.

After having essentially a full Eldar army sitting around for years, I finally got my oldest son into the game and started painting them to have a third army to pick (you know, for some variety). Decided to use the grey/orange Yme-Loc paint scheme because I like the design of the Eldar superheavies and their rules allow me to field some more. What do you think?

Warmaster Update!

No pictures today, but hopefully some this week, but I've finally found the motivation to work on the Warmaster titan again. Did a large amount of Miliput gap-filling over the weekend and did sanding today. Should be ready to do the first primer coat of the frame tomorrow, then more sanding.
For paint I'm thinking: metallic spray primer, wood stain (mahogany?), then dry brush a different metallic.

In the Horus Heresy novels, there are Luna Wolves who basically because of Horus’s awesome gene seed become mini horuses, looking exactly like him but astartes sized. Does this still occur in the black legion?

This squad was kind of a rush job, so it's got plenty of flaws that bug me, but I'm happy to have it chopped through so I can get on with my other projects.

If you know someone who wants to play Warhammer 40k, but has a hard time with the stacks and stacks of rules, check out Kidhammer. At just two pages long, this super simple indie game by designer Nick Christie is tailor made for accessibility.

Christie started work on the project because his girlfriend, who loves kitbashing and painting miniatures, wanted to play Warhammer 40k with him. “She is autistic, and for her, focusing on and tracking so many rules through multiple books is extremely overwhelming”, Christie explains. He adds that his partner told him to explain the rules to her like she was a kid.

...

He started to research “games for kids, rules explanations for kids, and kids playing Warhammer”, with the goal of making a truly kid-friendly version of the game. “Most of what I found was dads knowing all the rules, and kids just doing whatever they say”, Christie says. He wanted “to help kids that are into the look of Warhammer feel that they can play the game with their friends”.

So it is that Kidhammer is truly, deeply, simple. You can download the rules directly from his blogspot. The rules for setting up the game take up one side of a sheet of paper, and the rules for playing the game fit on the other. The rules sheet is laid out to help kids easily find information: one edge of the sheet has a movement gauge printed on it, and the steps of the turn have clear number labels for their sequence.

Currently painting a random Grey Hunter with Power Fist.
Decided to name him 'Hrotgar Redfist'. His Bolter roars death to his enemies. His fist crushing all who dare to stand against the Allfather.

I've been painting for fun for a few years but now I want to learn the game. The first two of 25 models done.

Always looking to get better so comments welcome.
