I’ve been trying to be a little more responsible with plastics and reducing waste. I’ve been using hemp wick with a lighter case called a Hemplight which I’ve enjoyed. I used the BIC ones and then moved to Clipper so I could refill it.

I’m going to sound old, but I don’t remember Clippers having the hexagonal spark wheel. I’ve tried to stay on top of butane and flint, but they are so difficult to light after they’ve been used for a while, got to a point where I got a callous on my index finger trying to get that shit to light. Picked up a button ignition one, with a longer ignition (candle lighter like) and it’s a pain in the ass to use with the hemp wick, finger just slipped and sliced open on the plastic button 😐 trying to determine if the Jet Flame ones will fit the hemplight case.

All of this to say… how does the community light up your flower?

I primarily use a bong, I’d like to use the hemp wick still and it needs to be easy to put out.

Do you see any value in using hemp wick versus direct flame from butane?

Any suggestions and general discussion appreciated!

P.S. not an ad for Clipper or Hemplight, if anything I’m not recommending them. Also I know dry herb vaping is better for me, for some reason my body reacts badly to vaping. I’ve tried multiple vapes, always messes my mouth up unfortunately.

EDIT: ended up picking up a Zippo dual flame butane insert, going to use my old red Zippo case and once the hinge fails I’ll buy a new red matte Zippo and just have multiple inserts 🙄😑😐 I’ve wrapped hemp wick around my Zippo case and gonna try that for a while, anyone got any tips for using hemp wick wrapped Zippos, I’m all ears!

She’s fruity with just a hint of spice, cleaned this one up quickly with a canna brush, not hating the result actually.

Someone was asking me about pests. These have spider mites, they're not super bad but I'm going to spray neem oil anyway. It's not ideal but my ecosystem doesn't have any spider mites predators right now so it's really my only current solution. I'm not interested in non-native predators but if anyone has a line on some Illinois native predatory insects holler at me.

You can also see how well established my cover crop is! I'm a big fan of cover cropping. Monoculture is literally poison to the Earth, so obviously Bizzle don't play that shit.

Anyway the big one in the middle is up to my nose 😂 and they're fully flowering which sucks but I'm learning for next year. Nothing I ever do is a failure, it's just some shit I did.

I'm naming it Smoke on the Water because obviously I am, but I don't want to smash a champagne bottle because I don't drink. What's something pot related I can do instead?

[Edit: I'll cut down this plant today. It's the smallest of 3. Thanks for the feedback!]

So far I'm very happy with my first grow. I found the seeds, so I have no idea what strains they are. But they're all female :)

Days or even weeks ago I noticed that some leaf tips of the largest plant at the back were turning brown and curling up. Only a little at first, so I didn't think much of it. But now I'm not sure if this is unhealthy behavior. A few of the large leaves have also already turned yellow, which I've removed. The air circulation is better this way, but I'm starting to doubt whether the plant is safe or in danger.

Last night I hung the lamp a little higher (about 30 cm away) and aimed the fan at the wall; previously it had been aimed at the canopy. I hope it was only too much wind/light stress for this one plant.

If you have experience with this I'd love to get some feedback.

Two of my greenhouse plants decided to start waving their junk around, they’re now enjoying new life as compost. Here’s the other one:

That leaves 4 in the greenhouse and 1 in the tent inside 🤞

All in all, it was over 5kg of material, but a lot of fan leaves and stems.

2x Durban Poison taken to day 65 in aeroponics with technaflora nutrients.

I mainly trim off the fan leaves and leave the rest for a dry trim, usually dryer here so try to leave more material as long as it’s got trichomes on it.

Unfortunately the tomatoes weren’t able to be modified to put in here, and it’s not nice enough to go outside yet so they are gone.

Someone posted in Trees the other day that they missed the old r/vaporents and r/cult. I do as well, I want to try and foster growth in the cannabis space on Lemmy. I love vaporizering (cannabis too of course) so I want to start making some content for vaporents!

Saw some nanners, so called it. Will make a post about it later, currently knee deep in harvesting!

There's a vaporent community and a vaporists community. Neither have been active for almost a year. It would be nice to have one of those going to see what everybody's using. I also miss the old old cult/ Franklin/thca groups from r/. Anyone interested in starting one of those?
