Compact Recycling Setup! (hackertalks.com)

This recycling system will look at what is available on the logistics network (from the roboport) and will keep recycling anything with more then R (4k by default, set by combinator next to the roboport) items in the logistics network.

Anything that doesn't have 4k in logistics, will get put onto the exit belt for sorting, or storage.

This uses my best effort stack inserters to keep the belt as compact as possible.

This system has reduced my fulgora footprint! most of my recycling belts are empty now, and my trains cannot keep up with the speed of recycling now.

The new UI updates are quite nice for quality mechanics, and the storage chests get bigger with quality is a very welcome change!

Stack Inserters will wait FOREVER until they can pick up a full stack of input items before dropping them on the destination.

The best effort stack inserter will pick up as many as possible, then drop the stack on the output. This requires a decider combinator to override the stack size if we are holding a less then full stack.

I'm using this to compact up sushibelts with great impact!

I've often seen Factorio compared to software development. I'm not a software dev, only a casual programming hobbyist at best. In that context, Gleba spoilage feels like error handling: if things go wrong, do this. If the line spoils, grab it and burn/convert-to-nutrients.

Currently I have a circuit that keeps the last seen signal for 240 ticks, and at the end of the 240 ticks, if it sees the same input on green, it would restart the click for another 240 ticks.

This is close to what I want, but I would like to reset the clock every time I saw the input again. So if at 200 ticks I saw the input, I want to reset the clock and start again.

The entire time I want to maintain the output signal as constant, even during the reset. Any suggestions on doing this in a single circuit element?

Put the item you want to build in the constant combinator; The 5 assemblers below be set to the recipe for each quality level of the item.

By default each level will buffer 4-5 stacks of a item at a quality level, if the next level up isn't full, start to drop items onto the belt for recycling. (We get to 4 stacks, when we are over 4 stacks, if we need to grind for quality, we will). If the higher level quality exists and is 4 stacks, we wont grind.

Request 5x the ingredients into the requestor chest for each assembler.

No quality modules on the legendary assembler.

Using buffers for the output to pull in any items from the network, including quality upgrades from different production quality levels (the legendary output on the epic production line will move to the legendary buffer)

I always try to do belt bases, as I prefer them. Gleba is damn near impossible. I tried to at the start but the spoilage and nutrients are just too much to handle for me. Bots to the rescue!

100 hours in, about to go to Aquilo, and now I figured out how easy it is.

Torn between feeling giddy and excited, and feeling like a huge idiot.

So I'm over 100 hours in and I've just reached the point where I've made it above Aquilo's orbit.

However, I wonder if I spent too much time setting up a janky interplanetary logistics system rather than just using Nauvis resources for science. Also, Gleba spiders keep eating my base.

Figured I'd ask then... How long did it take before you touched down on Aquilo in your playthrough?

Of note - the comments point out many other ways to do this.

So it turns out all of the rails in my old blueprint book are now labeled as legacy rails. They are semi compatible with the new rail system, but not completely. To the credit of the devs, they work together so seamlessly that I didn't notice until I hit the 50 hour mark for my current save.

But that's the issue, at least for me. About half of my rail network is legacy rails, the rest the new stuff. And worse, the grid doesn't perfectly align between them, so creating new blueprints that align with the old rails doesn't really work.

From what I can tell, it doesn't really effect anything. But if any of you are about to start a new save and use an old blueprint book, it's probably worth updating it all.

I might move my Hetzner VPS to Finland and I am from Slovenia, so it would be good to know how noticeable this is in Factorio.

Let's see some different approaches! Share a snapshot of your Fulgora heart.

Hold a blueprint in your hand, then in your personal logistics network click Add Section - the new section will be populated with all the requirements of your blueprint

I just discovered this! so convenient.

Retrofit my early copper lines to be inside my roboport network. Missed that inserter, lol.

I've seen discussions on which is the best planet to visit first, but I want to know which is the best planet to stay on! So far I've been to Vulcanus and Fulgora and I'm thinking of setting up a new center of manufacturing on Vulcanus because of how abundant basic resources are and to take advantage of foundries (and my operations on Nauvis have several bottlenecks I don't feel like fixing). From there I can launch a fleet of space platforms and blot out the sky! Have you thought about picking a new home from among the stars, and if so, which one?
