Seriously Undercurrent looks dope

The sort of "winter fantasy" theme the armor sets all have remind me of something from my childhood that I can't quite place. Sort of Narnia-ish, but not quite. But I feel like there's gotta be a name for this design theme. "Regal Christmas"?

I just really dig the art direction for the Dawning stuff. This year's armor is kinda mid, but I put last year's Pruina Luster set back on and it's just so good. Even just the font they used for the Dawning logo in the trailer fits this theme so well. I just wish there was a name for it so I could find more stuff like this. I'm not a very Christmas-sy guy, but something about the Dawning visuals just hits.

Yes. Its true. You can get the legacy, including Witch Queen, Beyond Light and Shadowkeep, for free.

Now is a good time to start or switch to computer.

I have recently uninstalled destiny 2. In favor of destiny 1 due to all the vaulted stuff and lack of story and was wondering if there are any Destiny 1 Clans on here yet so I can play with fellow Lemmy/kbin Guardians.

Been playing a little less than a year. Just felt like sharing :) if you've been thinking of trying solo dungeons, I promise that if my sorry ass could brute-force his way through one, you can too!

TL;DR: Bungie scrambled to cut staff to avoid Sony taking over the company fully due to missed revenue projections. Morale in the studio is expectedly low. More layoffs will happen if TFS doesn’t perform well.

My head is running in circles since the Lightfall announcment. When the light and dark saga ends.. whats next?

Could it be more focused on Vex and technical stuff or will they fully unfold the war with Xivu Arath?

Also wondering and kinda hoping they will throw out a new saga with a new engine.

What are your thoughts?

The random weapon rolls this season are looking a lot spicier than the crafted weapons. Thought I would list some of the standout rolls I saw on light.gg. Again I'm not listing perks I don't think are worthwhile or guns that have returned and not changed.

Dreaming City Refreshed Weapons

These can be acquired from Blind Well (yuck) or from Riven's Lair and The Coil.

Origin Trait: Advanced Reflexes - ADS quickly after taking damage to gain improved mobility, handling, and charge rate for a short duration.

Tigerspite - Kinetic Precision AR:

  • First Column PVE:
    • Overflow
    • Subsistence
    • Outlaw
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Kinetic Tremors
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Frenzy
  • First Column PVP:
    • Moving Target
    • Outlaw
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Eye of the Storm
    • Kill Clip
  • Tigerspite was a really solid AR when it released. ARs are really hot in PVP right now and this has some good perks for that.
  • This is one of two ARs in the game with Kinetic Tremors right now. The other has a huge perk pool. We'll get to that one.

Sleepless - Arc Rocket Launcher:

  • Go focus a Hothead from Zavala if you don't have one. It's perk pool is so much better.

Twilight Oath - Solar Rapid Fire Sniper:

  • I don't think this gun has a place in the game.
    • Legendary snipers are bad at DPS and Rapid Fire snipers don't hit hard enough. They're basically big Scout Rifles.
    • If you're going to use a solar sniper in PVP you should be using Beloved.
    • If you don't have Beloved use Cloudstrike.
    • Eye of Sol and Uzume are both back this season.

Retold Tale - Void Precision Pellet Shotgun:

  • First Column PVE:
    • Repulsor Brace
    • Lead from Gold
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Destabilizing Rounds
    • 1-2 Punch
  • First Column PVP:
    • Quickdraw
    • Slideshot
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Killing Wind
    • 1-2 Punch
    • Barrel Constrictor?
  • Good PVE combos if you don't have Nessa's Oblation or just want something different.
  • Precision Frames are very hot in PVP right now and with Matador being pretty rare this is a good sub. Wish it had threat detector but I can live.

Waking Vigil - Arc 140 HC (another one):

  • First Column PVE:
    • Outlaw
    • Rapid Hit
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Voltshot
    • Kill Clip
  • First Column PVP:
    • Outlaw
    • Rapid Hit
    • Rangefinder
    • Perpetual Motion
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Kill Clip
    • Opening Shot
  • PVE rolls are pretty obvious.
  • This could be a good PVP HC with the origin trait depending on how big the stat boost is.
  • If you don't have a Nation of Beasts this is a good alternative. I think they both have their pros and cons in both perks and stats. Nation is craftable though so it's easier to get the roll you want.

Vouchsafe - Void Lightweight Scout:

  • First Column PVE:
    • Rapid Hit
    • Repulsor Brace
    • Outlaw
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Destabilizing Rounds
    • Dragonfly
    • Golden Tricorn
    • Attrition Orbs
  • First Column PVP:
    • Moving Target
    • Rapid Hit
    • Outlaw
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Explosive Payload
  • This is probably a better PVP option that Brya's love, which came out last season.
  • As for PVE they're about the same but I'd spend time going for Byra's because it's craftable.

Abide the Return - Solar Sword:

  • It's a sword. It has Incandescent.
  • Keep it if you don't feel like getting craftable the sword from the war table. Or if you're not a Titan w/ Crown Splitter.
  • If you're a Titan without the Solar Crown Splitter I feel bad for you.

Ritual Playlist Weapons

🚨BREAKNECK🚨 - Precision Frame AR - Source: Gambit (yuck):

  • First Column PVE:
    • Subsistence
    • Feeding Frenzy
    • Heating Up
  • Second Column:
    • Onslaught (kills increase fire rate)
    • Kinetic Tremors
  • First Column PVP:
    • Eye of the Storm
    • Heating Up
    • Encore
    • Keep Away
    • Dynamic Sway Reduction
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Moving Target
    • Tap the Trigger
    • Kinetic Tremors
  • The GOAT returns.
  • It's a damn shame this is locked behind Gambit and can't get Rampage/Onslaught again. Probably for the best.
  • For the unaware this was one of the guns that brought about Sunsetting.
  • I see basically two options for PVE and many options for PVP. Good luck to you getting the roll you want because this is one of the huge perk pool guns.

Belisarius-D Strand 4 burst Pulse Rifle - Source: Competitive PVP:

  • First Column PVE:
    • Vorpal
    • Keep Away
    • Rapid Hit
    • Slice
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Kill Clip
    • Hatchling
  • First Column PVP:
    • Vorpal
    • Keep Away
    • Rapid Hit
    • Eye of the Storm
    • Elemental Capacitor
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Zen Moment
    • Moving Target
    • Headseeker
    • Kill Clip
  • IMO this is the best gun that released this season. It's a great weapon frame and has an insanely good perk pool that can cross PVE+PVP.
  • Rapid Hit/Kill Clip is a universal combo that works at all levels of content and in any game mode.
  • Vorpal in the first column is super interesting. I can't recall any other guns that have this.

Retrofuturist - Lightweight Void Shotgun - Source: Crucible:

  • Personally I don't think this one is worth your time.
  • Lightweights are not meta at the moment and while this gun has perk combos the pool is too large to guarantee success.
  • I think you're better off going for Retold Tale since it's pool is smaller and the frame is currently better.
  • We'll always be able to focus this one later on if it becomes meta again.

Double Edged Answer - Void Sword - Source: Strikes:

  • Get the seasonal ritual sword instead. Both have Repulsor Brace/Destabilizing Rounds.

Lethal Abundance - Strand High Impact AR - Source: Iron Banner:

  • First Column PVE:
    • Slice
    • Keep Away
    • Enlightened Action
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Hatchling
    • Onslaught
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Target Lock
  • First Column PVP:
    • Keep Away
    • Dynamic Sway Reduction
    • Elemental Capacitor
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Tap the Trigger
    • Target Lock
  • This gun has to compete with possibly the best PVE primary in the game: Quicksilver Storm. I think it does an okay job.
  • The other alternative to this gun is Perpetualis, which you can still get from the War Table and is craftable.
  • I think this gun will shine more in PVP. It makes me want to play more IB at least.

Incisor - Strand Trace Rifle - First of it's kind - Source: Trials:

  • First Column:
    • Subsistence
    • Envious Assassin
    • Slice
  • Second Column:
    • Killing Tally
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Hatchling
    • Target Lock
  • I only really look at Trace Rifles for PVE content. This one is the first legendary strand trace so that makes it unique.
  • Kind of annoyed its a Trials reward.
  • It has some possible PVP rolls but I don't think trace's will ever be meta after Laser Tag weekend.

Undercurrent - Arc Waveframe Breach GL - Source: NIghtfalls:

  • Personally, I think this gun is DOA since Forbearance exists and Undercurrent can't get Chain Reaction.
  • Forbearance has almost all the good perks this gun has too.
  • Even with a reload perk+ voltshot I don't think it can clear adds as fast as Forbearance can. Also, if you want a GL with Voltshot you can craft one from the War Table. (can't remember the name)

World Drops

Parabellum - Solar Adaptive SMG:

  • Only combo I'm really interested in here would be Heal Clip/Frenzy
  • Adaptive SMGs are outshined by lightweights in PVP if you ask me.
  • CALUS Mini-tool also exists and is probably better than this.
  • If you don't have the mini tool look for this one I guess.

Marcato-45 - Strand Adaptive MG:

  • First Column:
    • Slice
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Demolitionist
  • Second Column:
    • Hatchling
    • Onslaught
    • Golden Tricorn
  • Not seeing a lot of PVP viability for this one.
  • Circular Logic is also out there if you feel like grinding on Neomuna and might have a better perk pool depending on what you want.

Crux Termination IV - Arc Rocket Launcher:

  • First Column:
    • Envious Assassin
    • Reconstruction
    • Clown Cartridge
  • Second Column:
    • Explosive Light
    • Tracking Module
  • I think the only other rocket that can roll Envious/Explosive Light is the one from Ghosts of the Deep so keep an eye out for this one.
  • Very solid DPS options on this gun. Probably will chase it in lost sectors next season if we don't get something that can craft these combos.

Ros Argo IV - Void Adaptive Auto

  • First Column:
    • Subsistence
    • Rewind Rounds
    • Permeability
  • Second Column:
    • Onslaught
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Golden Tricorn
    • Surrounded
  • This is the heir to Gnawing Hunger and Chroma Rush. Both were add shredding machines.
  • Not really seeing a lot of PVP viability on this one.
  • Shame it doesn't have Destabilizing Rounds for the combo.

TL;DR

Good:

  • Competitive Crucible pulse looks nasty.
  • Trials has a strand trace.
  • World Drop RL and AR are looking good.
  • New IB AR looks solid.
  • Breakneck is back baby.
  • Dreaming City weapons look solid if you can land a roll.

Bad:

  • Dreaming City guns might require Blind Well. Blind well is also dropping the old Dreaming City Armor.
  • Best PVE guns are still dropping from PVP activities.
  • New Vanguard Waveframe is DOA.
  • No way to focus this season's World Drops (again).

Looking at the new craftable weapons on Light.gg and listing what I think is going to be good for each one. **I'm not listing every perk for every gun. **

Season of the Wish Weapons

Origin Trait: Dragon's Vengance - When an ally dies or you reach critical health the weapon reloads, gains bonus range, charge rate, and handling.

Appetence:

  • Stasis Kinetic Trace Rifle. First of it's kind.
  • First column:
    • Overflow
    • Clown Cartridge
    • Demolitionist
  • Second Column:
    • Killing Tally
    • One for All
    • Attrition Orbs (sustained damage creates orbs)
    • Headstone
  • I pretty much only look at traces for PVE. This is the first legendary Stasis trace so that makes it already interesting. First column has some clear winners but the second column has some options depending on what you want.

Supercluster:

  • Slug Strand Shotgun. First of it's kind.
  • First Column PVE:
    • Reconstruction
    • Threat Detector
    • Fourth Times
    • Lead From Gold
    • Slice (casting class ability allows the weapon to sever targets on hit for a duration or maximum number of targets)
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Cascade Point
    • Hatchling
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Vorpal
  • First Column PVP:
    • Threat Detector
    • Slideshot
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Fragile focus
    • Surrounded
    • Vorpal
  • This one is looking more PVE focused than PVP. FTTC/Reconstruction + Cascade Point could be nutty. I don't think it's going to replace my Heritage though.
  • EDIT: I was lucky and can craft this one early. Cascade Point only marginally increases the fire rate so I switched to Reconstruction/Vorpal for less micromanaging. I can't be bothered to damage test it so I don't know which would be more DPS.

Scatter Signal:

  • Rapid Fire Strand Fusion Rifle. First of it's kind.
  • First Column PVE:
    • Slice
    • Overflow
    • Enlightened Action
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Hatchling
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Controlled Burst
  • First Column PVP:
    • Encore
    • Surplus
    • Perpetual Motion
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Kickstart
    • Adagio
  • Also looking better for PVE than PVP. I don't think Rapid Fires are too popular in PVP right now. Pretty much any Fusion with Controlled Burst is a win in my book.

Lethophobia:

  • Void Lightweight Bow
  • First Column PVE:
    • Successful Warm Up
    • Repulsor Brace
    • Permeability (using your class ability changes the damage type to match your subclass. Osmosis but for class abilities)
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Golden Tricorn
    • Disruption Break
    • Explosive Head
    • Enlightened Action -First Column PVP:
    • Impulse Amplifier
    • Steady Hands
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Explosive Head
    • Disruption Break
  • I'm not too up to speed on what's good on bows. Permeability automatically makes this one interesting. Shame it doesn't have Destabilizing rounds in the second column.
  • I think this will be a menace in PVP for bow quickswappers with it having Steady Hands and Disruption Break.

Doomed Petitioner:

  • Void Aggressive LFR. First of it's kind.
  • First Column:
    • Reconstruction
    • Envious Assassin
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Permeability
  • Second Column:
    • Precision Instrument
    • Golden Tricorn
    • Surrounded
  • The first column is absolutely stacked and the second column is a big wet fart. Precision instrument is probably the best bet there as the other two good damage perks take too much work to get going for an LFR IMO.
  • Bungie really doesn't want LFRs to be the damage meta I guess.

Scalar Potential:

  • Rapid Fire Arc Pulse Rifle. (another one)
  • First Column PVE:
    • Keep Away
    • Overflow
    • Permeability
    • Enlightened Action
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Golden Tricorn
    • Attrition Orbs
  • The PVP Roll is Keep Away/Headseeker. No question. Combined with the Origin Trait this thing might be a monster in PVP.
  • For PVE it's hard to recommend this if you already have an Oversoul Edict from Crota's End. That gun has a much better perk pool for PVE.

Reissued Season of Undying Weapons

Origin Trait: Nano Munitions - Being near allies builds up an emergency ammo reserve that kicks in on the next reload. The longer you're near allies the more you reload.

Subjunctive:

  • Lightweight Frame Arc SMG. First Craftable one.
  • First Column:
    • Threat Detector
    • Stats for All
    • Grave Robber
  • Second Column PVE:
    • Voltshot
    • Swashbuckler
  • Unless you don't have an Ikelos SMG yet it's really hard for me to recommend this at all. If you don't have an Ikelos then get this with voltshot and one of the reload perks.
  • Now, if Stats for All procs off of Voltshot kills then this might be slightly better at add clear than Ikelos.
  • No reason to take this into PVP over a decent Ikelos or the Crucible 900 rpm arc SMG (can't remember the name).

Adhortative:

  • Adaptive Solar Pulse Rifle. First Craftable.
  • First Column:
    • Heal Clip
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Shoot To Loot
    • Feeding Frenzy
  • Second Column:
    • Incandescent
    • Golden Tricorn
  • This gun is looking great for PVE. Heal Clip/Incandescent is a great combo.
  • The gun has Headseeker in the second column but it really lacks a good PVP perk in the first column so it's hard for me to recommend it for PVP.

Optative:

  • Void 180 Hand Cannon. (another one)
  • Honestly this is the 3rd one of these we've gotten and they all kind of suck. 180 HCs haven't been good in YEARS. They're better after the range adjustments last season but I'm not going to use one over a 140 or 120 in PVP. I've been saying that Bungie needs to make these the "PVE" HC for a while and while they have good perks they just hit like wet paper.
  • Word of Crota is probably better at PVE than this one is. I'm not going to go over PVE.
  • First Column PVP:
    • Rapid Hit
    • Keep Away
  • Second Column PVP:
    • Zen Moment
    • Kill Clip

Imperative:

  • Kinetic High Impact Scout
  • First Column:
    • Keep Away
    • Rapid Hit
    • Demolitionist
    • Triple Tap
  • Second Column:
    • Kinetic Tremors
    • Adreneline Junkie
    • Attrition Orbs
    • Explosive Payload
  • Looks like a solid PVE option if you don't have the Last Wish scout crafted yet or a good Hung Jury.
  • You could rock Rapid Hit/Explosive Payload in PVP if you want but Scouts are in a bad spot in PVP still.

TL;DR

Highlights:

  • Legendary Stasis Trace Rifle is brand new.
  • Strand Slug and Rapid Fire Fusion Rifle are new and interesting
  • Adhortative and Imperative will probably be solid for PVE.

Low Points:

  • LFR is a giant miss IMO.
  • Another Void 180 HC.
  • New perks this season are interesting but not meta shifting.

TL;DR:

  • Final Shape Delayed to June 4th 2024.
  • Season of the Wish content will go from Tomorrow till February but the season will last till TFS launches. (6 Months)
  • In February, weekly progression based quests called Wishes will launch.
  • Moments of Triumph launches in February.
  • Guardian Games moves up to March with an increased focus on class vs class.
  • A new two month content drop called "Into the Light" launches in April. Free to all players.
  • 3 new PVP maps drop in May.

Joe Blackburn also put out a video on Youtube talking about this with some more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSJDyAIOk2c

==================

I don't see how they can do anything other than cosmetics and maybe refresh a weapon pool as craftable since they just found out about this last month.

Here's my guesses for what we might get:

  • A new Moments of Triumph armor set tied to a set of objectives with a corresponding title.
  • VoG or Garden gets craftable weapons+updated perks.
  • Leviathan returns w/ craftable weapons (highly unlikely)
  • Additional Campaign missions from Red War and/or Forsaken get put back in.
  • A mini campaign taking place on existing locations gets added and built from leftover content/voicelines. (Kind of like Veil Containment)
