Help needed (self.connectasong)

As expected, me, as a single mod, requires some help. I'll keep this post pinned and update it when needed. At the moment, what the community needs (except for more active users) is:

  1. Another mod, even if there is not a lot of work to do, I'd still be happy if we can have redundancy.
  2. Design for the community logo and banner.
  3. A bot to update the sidebar - this is something I can do myself, only it will take me sometime to get there.

One of my all time favorite songs by the other absolute badass 70s UK punk band that had the same vibe as The Clash, and played/collaborated together often.

It’s not very punk’ish, but it’s a such a great song!

The previous song and this band have the exact same name

Connection: riot

HMHB and the Wedding Present were both bands on C86

Hands working HARDer (and better and faster and stronger, too)

This song references the artist behind the previous track

The previous post, Led Zeppelin - Good Times Bad Times ( https://lemmy.world/post/25620809 ), refers to certain types of times. The same goes for this song. (Though that's hard to say for sure as the lyrics are just repetitions of the phrase "Hard Times".)

Here's an 8:39 version of the same song:

connection is "good times"

Imagine it's January 1969, a friend says, 'Hey, check out this new album." And you put that turntable needle to this first song. Wow.

The vocals are haunting; this is one of my favourite covers, perhaps surpassing the original....

I see your "La mer" and raise you another "La mer". A completely different song despite the same title.

Yeah, dating back to 1949 and way out of the usual line of our fare, but made a bit famous again after many decades by BioShock including it on one of their soundtracks.

If it sounds a familiar to you outside of that association, there was a famous jazz/pop cover by Bobby Darin in 1959 which turns up in a lot of odd places like movies set in historical Las Vegas and the A Life Less Ordinary soundtrack.

Connection: another seminal, underrated ~~Glaswegian~~ ~~Scottish~~ Glaswegian band

edit: apparently Frightened Rabbit aren't from Glasgow like I thought, but they're still from Scotland. So it's not as specific a connection as I meant it to be, but here we are.

edit 2: Wikipedia says they're from Selkirk, but their Spotify bio says they were founded in Glasgow, so I'm going with Glasgow.
