The U.S. 2024 Election is about 2 weeks away now and I hope people realize that it doesn't really matter who wins because we're screwed no matter what happens.

Both major political parties have conspired with the rich and oligarchs and plutocrats to screw us all over the past 40+ years. Things just keep getting worse and worse and worse and worse no matter who has control.

Voting can't fix this. That's like trying to fix a flat tire by poking it with more holes. It's not going to work.

Talk is cheap. You need to back your words with action Joe or nothing's going to change. Israel has no intentions of stopping and as long as you keep sending them billions of dollars they're definitely not going to stop. Zionism is not going to stop without a direct military conflict. They're doing the same thing to Palestinians that the Nazis did to them.

While I agree that the rich need to be heavily taxed, income is only one component. Most of their wealth is potential wealth, that is it's in the form of stocks and the like and thus they don't pay taxes on it until they sell it. This is why we need a tax on holding stock too (based on dollar value of that stock). Maybe do it quarterly or monthly, I don't know, and take the average value of it during that period and that's the amount they're taxed on.

The corporate tax rate is a joke and a half and needs to be doubled or tripled IMO. The 1950s which a lot of older folks have rose colored nostalgia for, had tax rates up to 50% for corporations. It's time to bring that back. There was also the 90% tax for rich individuals. Bring that back too.

If the rich or corporations don't like it, too fucking bad. They can leave and fuck off. They need us, American consumers, more than we need them.

Seriously, why can't they just put forth a U.S. constitutional amendment vote already? Call for a convention and vote on it. Do your fucking jobs. Oh wait, I know why. Because the GOP wants to control women and hates them. And the Dems want to use the threat of GOP banning it nationwide to fundraise. So they'll never put forth a vote for an amendment.

The fact that SCOTUS overturned Roe was dumb to begin with. Especially considering several of the newest judges lied under oath to Congress that they considered it settled (and thus Dobbs should've never been heard by the court). In a country that doesn't suck, all of them would be impeached, tried, convicted, removed from the bench, disbarred, and jailed. But instead apparently it's totally cool to lie under oath to Congress if you're up for a SCOTUS position.

Fascist fucks. They're banning it because they can't control it and their chosen narrative. They don't like that its users support Palestine and hate genocide and capitalism. This is fascist censorship and a clear 1st amendment violation. It also gives them the right to ban any app or website they don't like. Fuck these assholes.

He's the freaking president. Can't he just choose to add more justices and get a new case brought to overturn the previous one? SCOTUS clearly only cares about precedent in specific cases and chooses when to use it and when to ignore it seemingly randomly. His party controls the Senate, who controls confirmations.

But they're not going to do that. Why? Because if they did that, they couldn't use it as a carrot-on-a-stick for fundraising to con gullible and stupid people into voting for them. They're never going to codify it. And even if they did, SCOTUS could just overturn it later and then we'll be right back here. And there will never be a specific constitutional amendment for it either.

Dems have had 50+ years to do something about it and they've chosen not to every time and instead like to use it for fundraising and like to gaslight everyone about it.

Tax credits like this are an excuse to let corporate property owners continue to rip people off. This will do little to nothing to solve the problem. And that's assuming Congress would even pass it (they won't). A median home is ~$400,000. This is equivalent to only 2.5% back in this proposed tax credit. That's a joke. That'd be like if you spent $100 on something and got $2.50 cash back. Woo-fucking-hoo. It's far too little.

And again, we need the actual upfront cost coming down not something that will take time to get back. We need price controls. They're not going to voluntarily lower prices and they're not going to build more to increase supply to lower prices, because they don't want prices to be lower. That'd be less money for them. Yes, even if they were to end a lot the regulations these companies complain about, they're still not going to start building a bunch more houses. Again, that'd be less money for them.

Biden says he will sign the bill to ban TikTok if one passes both chambers apparently. People say well that's because the Chinese government is using it to spy on Americans. Funny, you all don't seem to have a problem with the American government spying on us or Facebook/Meta, Twitter, Google, etc., all doing the same things. You all just hate China because your favorite media outlet and politicians told you to. If China didn't exist, they'd pick some other boogeyman to tell you to hate and be afraid of. Liberals and conservatives in this country are some of the most propagandized people in the world and you don't even realize it.

People really need to learn how to distinguish between words and actions. It doesn't really matter so much what he says. It matters what he does. And thus far he's been a shit president, as they all have (in my lifetime at least), IMO.

He campaigned on a lot of stuff the actual left wants (people like those of us in this community), but has he implemented any of it? Not really. Same thing with Obama. They campaign as leftists and govern as right wing and keep bowing to the GOP on everything. Fuck these assholes.

This is clearly because those in power absolutely detest Millennials and Gen Z. They also know that people have been using it to communicate and organize and they don't like that either.

What fucking racists they both are. Latinos/Latinas are not one homogeneous people with the same nationality, culture, identity, beliefs, etc. There are many who live here who are from many different countries. A lot of Cubans for example tend to lean conservative IIRC.

The problem is not that the wrong people keep getting elected, it’s that the elections don’t matter and voters don’t have a say.
