Headshots don't work like they do in video games/ movies. A person has a 42% chance of surviving a penetrative wound to the head.

And there are also plenty of cases where a fatal head-wound didn't prevent someone from completing complex tasks before expiring.

Most of these myths trace back to Gary Webb, a journalist who committed suicide by shooting himself twice in the head. Credulous people think the CIA killed him to prevent him from making their cocaine dealing public. Even though his article exposing the CIA was widely debunked and 20years old.

This shouldn't be a surprise because many of the pregnancies that would have been terminated were nonviable.

A pro-life person would argue that aborted pregnancies should count as infant mortality and therefore the rate has dropped precipitously.

There is a concept in post-modern philosophy called "hauntology". This theory posits that late-capitalist societies loose their ability to imagine different social orders; and cannot imagine the future except as high-tech versions of the current social order. To fill the void of novelty, the culture industry must constantly recycle and repackage old culture.

Anyway, this isn't a new phenomena, just a technology enabling us to resurrect live people instead of just fictional characters.

If Israel’s right to exist is a controversial topic, I‘m out.

Fuck me, they're arguing States rights. Is there a playbook for this atrocity denial or what?

I read this article and I'd advise against it. All the author does is write about a bunch of facts that are all obviously true, without tying them together or saying anything interesting.

  1. cognitive tests work
  2. both candidates have declined to have cognitive tests
  3. debates are mentally taxing
  4. candidates are going to have to perform live.
  5. the audience will judge the performance
  6. the moderators will affect this.

Mind blown right?

Your identity cannot be stolen. The idea is science fiction. What thieves make off with are your credentials. Many of which you have no choice and sometimes no knowledge of. If you think about it, these credentials aren't necessarily for your benefit, and sometimes directly to your harm.

But it's your job to safeguard and secure these credentials with your time, effort, and hardware you own and maintain. Carry on consumer.

The funniest thing about the Cybertruck is the windshield wiper. Not only does it ruin the science fiction ascetic by breaking up the flat surfaces, it breaks up the primary surface with a dumb squeegee arm. It's also a little reminder that not only were the first wipers invented in 1903, but that they were fitted to electric vehicles.

I think they used one huge wiper in an attempt to make it look innovative by just by virtue of being unusual.

The problem isn't that we pet birds, it's that we eat them. Or more specifically we gather them in huge, unsanitary populations in close contact with humans as they are raised and slaughtered.

This reminds me of how people think AIDS spread from other primates through bestiality, when bushmeat was the correct answer. I guess it's easier to imagine bestiality than the consequences of carnism.

*not vegan, Just finding it harder and harder to dismiss them.

The ultra-orthodox have wanted this for a long time and it's one of the reasons Israel's government was trying to curtail the power of the judiciary. You may remember there were protests in Israel over last summer over this.

This isn't about Pacifism, but more about autonomy and seclusion. I don't think they mind exposing their youth to bombs and bullets as much as exposure to cosmopolitan ideals they get from mixing with Israel's more secular youth. It's similar to the impetus for religious parents to do home-schooling in the US.

several independent investigations were not able to substantiate the claims.

Tyson was investigated by National Geographic and Fox to protect the shows they were producing starring him. I suppose the Natural History Museum looked into it enough to decide not to fire their star celebrity academic.

So the investigations had massive conflicts of interest actually. And none of them had an interest in his actual guilt. An none of them were victim advocates.

The accusations against Tyson are credible and they've never been properly investigated.

This is highly misleading! You don't need an expensive ship or spend hours sinking into the ocean. So long as you charge up on the beach, you should be able to just drive to the wreak.
