Lmao, excuse me
woshang
Not being open source is pretty damaging to their user acquisition, I guess. Well it did not ask for my personal info when creating an account, so I trusted it at first.
For now I use both Mastodon and Session, and still kept WireMin on my phone because it combines them both. I look forward to the day when they finally publish their source code.
I think the reason might be related to the cost. For example, ChatGPT may not be available in Iran because in order for them to use ChatGPT, OpenAI would have to implement a server in Iran's network, which could be costly. If only 1% of the total population in Iran would pay for GPT-4, it would be impossible to make any profit.
Lemmy for sure! Its hard to get interaction on Mastodon
It's a basic human right, and if you're in a restrictive country like North Korea or China, data privacy means everything because individuals don't know if they're saying something wrong that could put them in danger.
A friend from college who is Chinese told me that whenever they go back to China for holidays, they have to clear out all the chat history on WeChat, a messaging app commonly used in China. This is because sometimes Chinese guards pick someone's phone and check for any content that could be seen as critical of China.
Diet, lmao.
Ditched
Try WireMin, someone recommended it from another post. Its a decentralized version of FB, people described it as combination of Mastodon + Session.
- E2EE messaging
- Feed for blog post
Decentralized network, So no central server to collect user data, and they can't implement any restriction rules, so 0 banning and censorship
I created a chat space on WireMin and tried, but I can't really ban a sender or remove any content.
"They run the whole machine so if they really wanted to they could block your IP from even connecting in the first place!" so I assume the owner of this platform is a guard, lmao.
LOL
