It's not just about the labels, the landmasses themselves are cursed

When the world was extra ridiculous over the past decade I would always tell my friends/family "the Mayans were right, the real world ended in 2012, and we have been living in a fucked up facsimile of it ever since purely for the amusement of the Mayan gods. They want to see how much they can turn up the "ridiculousness" dial on the simulation until the planet quite literally explodes

I know what you are saying. These folks were actively asking for the 2% of Grandma's and immunocompromised to be sacrificed for the greater good. Maybe if they saw their ERs shut down in the suburbs and country line they did in the city, they would take it more seriously

We made breakthroughs in recent yeara at harvesting alien technology from the crashed Roswell ships, leading to all of these "AI chips" and crazy speeds

We have tests, we have treatment, we have cultural awareness and more common preventative sex practices in at risk individuals, we have huge public health apparatus domestically and internationally to trace and track cases, we have drugs that keep HIV from turning into AIDS, we have drugs to "prep before you have sex" to prevent transmission. I think using the word AIDS and pandemic in the same sentence is a bit alarmist at this point. However I also think to say it's "cured" is also a step too far. It is a deadly communicable disease that we have made exponential strides in managing over the last 3 decades

They probably would, but that wouldn't prepare them for a life of listening to college lectures, corporate meetings, boring social events, etc that "drone at them." Giving a kid an unrealistic view of what adult life is and encouraging dependent personality disorder doesn't sound that healthy to me. For me, school absolutely made me do stuff I didn't want to do, and now in my 30s I see that's pretty much the definition of being an "adult"
