I'm an immigrant in the UK and the country keeps giving me more and more reasons to leave. It's turned into an absolute xenophobic hellhole in the last few years.

I wouldn't go as far it's them saying being gay is okay, but they're claiming all queer people can come and be active members of the church. The issue is that they're saying that while simultaneously treating LGBTQ+ people as ~~second~~ third degree citizens. They are "welcoming" us while also refusing to see us as equal and still claiming homosexuality is ungodly. It's the bullshit cries of a cult in its death throes.
Is it progress though? It's easy for them to talk the talk, but they don't appear to be doing anything to walk the walk. This is lip service, at best.
Yeah, I, as a queer person who grew up in a Catholic country, always felt very welcome

Hard to describe how good it feels to have Sync back! Was worried the tablet experience would be left behind but it's as smooth as ever. Thank you LJ! Instant subscription, absolutely no hesitation on that one.
I have seen it. I didn't say she threw anything away, just that it had an impact on what her trajectory may have looked like, which is undeniable.
Absolutely. Her treatment after that protest was really disgusting and definitely damaged her career long term, but I'm glad she was at least able to make music work on her own terms, mostly. I was lucky enough to see her live several times and was blown away after every performance. This is a loss that's hit hard.
This is the kind of attitude that has the UK the way it is and is completely incorrect. Let's strip this down to the absolute most basic payouts people receiving governmental support in the UK can get:
That's before we even begin to talk about things like accomodation allowances. You also have to remember that UK residents can work and receive income support, with earnings up to £6000 not affecting how much weekly support can be, while asylum seekers cannot even work despite being on significantly less.
It's easy to throw around comments like yours but if you try actually doing some research rather than spouting stuff from the red tops, you'll see that it's simply not true. I've provided links in case you'd like to start that research.
Nobody in need is getting enough support at the moment but the reason for that is not immigration, it's years of Tory rule.
