Yeh its not exactly doing that for me. Just very flakey with manual selection of resolutions. My bandwidth is not a good test for the autoselection right now unfortunately. Need to test with and without DASH. Very promising though. Ive kind of given up on public invidious instances or similar so might be time to selfhost something like this.

I hadn't seen this frontend before. Its nice. Yeh quality selection does seem a bit buggy for me also (librefox). I see under the user settings (click account top right), there are some settings for default quality and mpeg-dash. I havent tested myself but just spotted them. Maybe try these ?

Edit: i skipped your mention of “installed “ viewtube. We may not even be looking at the same thing lol. Im looking at viewtube.io . Perhaps the same if youre selfhosting anyway.

Infotainment? Do you mean adverdataharvestment?

Destructive. The intention being to return to a perceived ‘status quo’ which was effectively a policy(more like ideology) of cultural annihilation. The behaviour of an authoritarian occupying force, rather than one of partnership. Stirring up the worst in our backwater colony while they prepare to fleece their credulous voters while dangling plastic carrots (oooh tax cuts).

Wow. Thanks for the link. Makes me wonder if the whole thing could be seen as a honeypot opportunity for lawyers of evil corps and others. Also makes me wonder what their business end game is - get acquired by Amazon or another streaming giant ? In which case, yikes again. I was suspicious enough with the mere fact it was a hybrid streaming, live tv, and self host media solution. Conflicts of interest. A Shame. Theres alot of good aspects to using it. Hello Jellyfin.

Is this via social / account stuff within the plex ecosphere ? Ive never used any of that (wittingly) including seperate user accounts in my household. Is it between such accounts you're referring to, or more insidious than that ? Ive been plexing for some years but always have one eye on jellyfin. If theyre doing anything dodgy with data I will jump. Need to have another look at their policies and settings - its been a while. Good to have a headsup.

I wonder to what extent this will help, in the case of YouTube? Its so dominant of that market. Is it purely fiscal or also technical?

Holy crap who was that? I remember excitedly listening to a Baroness album when i learnt that Seb from Trans Am had joined on drums and thinking that the production was absolutely broken. Clipped to hell for sure. Baffling. I never looked into it. How could such a thing happen and I wonder if the mastering engineer had words or even just the studio / mix engineer(s) . Or the band for that matter.

This is some self imposed (not you) dystopian stupidity. Good on you for giving them warning, telling them straight, and then following through. Hope you went on to better and brighter things.

Thats correct , the IDF are the terrorists in this case. Reminding us what the literal and internationally recognised and ratified definition of terrorism and war crimes are . Nothing justifies this barbarity. They are the invaders, they could choose to walk away from the hospitals and the schools and the families and the innocent victims they are now choosing to murder, “wounded” as you claim isn't a big deal, mentally torture, abuse and eventually further radicalise against them. Perhaps thats the intention , because the goal sure as hell isn't peace. This is anti civilization and the world is watching. No one wins from this pornographic inhuman behaviour.

Was about to post this. This is mind boggling. Also, this whole thing we have now where all you have to do is state conflicts of interest and it’s enough. No repercussion, no ensuring unfairness isn't occurring because of the conflict. Nope, we declared it so thats fine. Wtf! Commerce commission needs to be cleared out, senate needs to be chucked out of it, and gov agencies who’s job is meant to be oversight of industry need to be squeeky clean , independent, totally self contained (outsourcing work to a consultancy who also work for the orgs your reporting on ? Wtf) and have real sharp teeth. Same goes for other regulatory outfits. Corporations should be quaking in their boots if the commerce commission come knocking. No wonder we are all being ripped off as consumers, and citizens. But look who’s coming into power….the kings of commercial conflicts and slick PR comms to offset any critical reportage. Prepare for the distractions and catchphrases.

No no no , we are only allowed to pick one bad guy at a time. Once you've picked one , you're not allowed to speak honestly about your own team at all. They can do no wrong. /s
