Had this happen to me yesterday while I was out shopping. I'd been three other locations. I just wanted to hit up a particular place where I buy my dairy for milk, butter, and cheese before heading home, and the cashier (a little old lady) was going on and and on. Like, lady, you're really sweet, but I've been out for three hours, and I just wanna get home.

But I'm not a monster. I listened to her. I did make my escape after about ten minutes lol I'm sure she talks the ears off her grandkids.

I, too, have a tendency to ramble and over share lol

I've literally never owned a Thinkpad lmao I've installed Linux on:

  • HP Pavilion DV5-2077CL (Ubuntu 12.10)
  • Toshiba Protege Z835-P330 (Ubuntu 16+)
  • Acer Aspire V3-372T (Debian 12)

As for desktop machines, I have essentially the same computer I had in 2014. A 4790K on a Gigabyte Z97 board. The only hardware issues I ever ran into were a Netgear WiFi adapter (I got it to work, but I'm on Ethernet again because it's better) and my RTX 4070 that replaced my R9 290.

Windows: You got a kernel panic from an update just once this week? I went through two BSODs today!

Mac: It'd happen more often if I actually had software! You get everything!

Arch: While getting updates can cause crashes sometimes, new stuff is fun.

Debian: You guys are getting updates?

Hey, my '97 is also a Type SH. I'm the eighth owner according to the Carfax. Somehow, the interior is complete (sans radio), it has the original wheels, and was never resprayed. Except for the trunk lid when some dingbat removed the spoiler. The VIN sticker was painted over. But you can make out the numbers. All VINs match. Somehow, this car has driven 257,000 miles, and is still 99.9% complete.

I'd love to drive an AP1 at least once, but I had a Prelude when I was a teenager so getting to own another (especially with a stick) is deeply meaningful to me. I was having my midlife crisis at 31, I guess lol

I think the Prelude's cluster is great for a manual daily driver. And I think that for a track car, they nailed it with the S2k's cluster.

I had an auto Prelude as a kid. I traded it in 2015 for a CVT HR-V and regretted it ever since. I always told myself if I got another, I'd hold out for a manual. So getting to own another is really meaningful to me.

I'd love to get to drive an AP1 at least once, though.

It's my favorite echo chamber lol But yeah, I don't think Linux will ever have the mass appeal that Windows and Mac do, and that's okay. Still, it's cool that gaming has been getting easier on Linux what with Proton and native support. It made it feel like I wasn't giving something up when I gave up Windows.

Nope. 5th gen Honda Prelude.

The two-tiered cluster of my Civic really grew on me. The speedometer is up really high so it's almost always in your line of sight.

This one (ETA: my '97 Prelude) sparks so much joy.

.exe

We don't say that file extension here, bud.

Lmao I bought my monitors in 2013. It's 1080p60 here. I have to use adapters because nothing has DVI out anymore. I don't even care about 4K. 1080p60 is good enough for me. Now excuse me while I burn a CD for my manual 90s car. Today's soundtrack is The Bends and the moonroof will be open.

There's an Xzibit joke in there somewhere.

If not, are we posting dogs?

My two favorite kinds of pet names are:

  • Food
  • Regular people names

But not the reason you think.

This was the day I learned this skillet is dented.

But most of my friends call me Geophph.
