Thank you for the suggestion. I tried from laptop with Firefox and Chromium, then from my phone (Firefox). But I see the same problem on all.

PS: there's also another functionality of Klipper that I use from time to time: you can make the whole "killring" appear, and choose the entry you want to paste with the mouse: as you click it it's entered. This is also bound to a key (in my case S-w) and works no matter which window I'm in.

Gotcha. Yes, haven't found anything that allows that specifically. But in my case I don't need to enable klipper; it's always active. No matter which windows I'm in, pressing C-v will paste whatever it's in the clipboard; whereas pressing e.g. S-v C-v will choose the previous item in the clipboard and then paste it.

I don't quite understand why they do this with books. Maybe it's because they have to, since many names and pieces obviously refer to the book. Or maybe they do it to attract people who have read the books.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the 1st season, just like other commenters here. A preliminary reason could be that the story is very different from the book, which is one of my most favourite sci-fi books ever. But even simply seeing this series as something different from the book, if found it too cheap: the characters are half-stereotypes, the events are what you'd expect, usual blood and sex to attract viewers...

Should go without saying, just my personal opinion and tastes. I'm happy that others enjoyed the series and I hope it'll made them curious to read the books.

Burn the four portions cut this way from the ropes, starting to burn them simultaneously. The 5/12 should be taken starting from the end of the ropes. When the second of these four pieces has burnt fully, say it's approx 25 min.

Here's one: https://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/tongueDrumSoundscapeGenerator.php

The whole site https://mynoise.net has great sound & music generators of all kinds.

Nice, very synth and slightly retro!

You are being watched. The government has a secret system, a machine that spies on you every hour of every day. I designed the machine to detect acts of terror, but it sees everything. Violent crimes involving ordinary people. The government considers these people "irrelevant". We don't. Hunted by the authorities, we work in secret. You'll never find us. But victim or perpetrator, if your number's up... we'll find you.

Who remembers and misses this outstanding show? Will we ever enjoy the like again? It's still so actual in these AI days.

Severance was one of the most beautiful series I watched of late. Not just intriguing, but beautiful, artistically beautiful. Very happy to hear it's been renewed for a second season.

Let's discuss it! :)

PS: and here you can find Severance: The Lexington Letter – the cherry on the show.

My main question is this: Is it worth switching to Ubuntu Pro? Actually I see it's free for personal use on one computer.

I'd be curious to hear the experience of those of you who switched, and also the motivation of those who didn't switch.

This question is partly related to another one: I'd like to economically support Linux in general and Ubuntu in particular. Would switching to Ubuntu Pro (and paying) help in this regard? Or which other ways of supporting are out there?

(As you understood, I'm somewhat of a newbie in the Linuxverse.)

Saitama meme among Linux users (webcache.googleusercontent.com)

This appeared on Reddit a while ago... User deleted unfortunately.

Some time ago on Reddit someone poste a link to a video meme about Saitama/One Punch Man and Linux man pages.

That subreddit is now private, so I can't access the link and no net search seems to unearth it. Can someone share it here? was it a youtube link?

Edit: thanks a ton to @Dr_[email protected]. Here is a cached version:

I just installed Kubuntu 22.04 on a Thinkpad, letting it take over (on purpose) the whole hard drive. Everything is working fine so far, all hardware seems to be working. If I take a look at software-properties, the "Other sources" list is empty: there are no ppa's added at the moment.

On another Thinkpad I have Ubuntu 20.04 pre-installed. In the "Other sources" list I see some OEM repositories: they must have been added by the Lenovo people before shipping.

I have two questions about this:

  1. How necessary or useful are these OEM ppas? I suppose they mainly offer optimized drivers; is that true?

  2. How do you find these OEM ppas? For example, what should I do to find such a ppa for the first Thinkpad (with Kubuntu), and see if it has useful software or drivers?

Edit: just as an example, there's this list: http://oem.archive.canonical.com/dists/ But I have no idea how to choose from there, it's a bit of a labyrint and the names don't reveal very much. For example, there are several "jammy-..." folders; and if you enter one of them, say "jammy", there are many subfolders with very cryptic names.

I for one was tired of Reddit. With the latest events it's good to look for alternatives. This community here is created in case the one(s) on Reddit disappear.

I'm not very interested in moderating; so to any old mods from Reddit: take over!
