Do you hear the people sing?

Singing the song of angry men

This is the music of a people

Who will not be slaves again

When the beating of your heart

Echoes the beating of a drum

There is a life about to start

When tomorrow comes

David is right up there with Samuel L Jackson for me in his unique and satisfying delivery of the F-word and it's derivatives.

Yeah we can all trust Meta, who never should have been allowed to purchase Whatsapp for antitrust reasons exactly like this. Whatsapp was innovative and very successful outside the US, rather than compete with their own decent product Facebook just absorbed them and gulped their users.

Site said it wouldn't load for "legal reasons" as I'm accessing from EU and we have the GDPR. Yikes...

Warren has done good work at the CFPB. She undercut Bernie because she was incredibly competent and knowledgeable, and granted to the right of him a bit politically but almost anyone elected in government is. She would have been a much better choice than Billary, has progressive receipts and would have spoken to economic issues that pull in more voters; instead the Democratic party fucked Sanders and anointed Hillary who was running a platform of "bomb Iran" in the primaries and made the job easy for the media who had decades of Clinton material to pull from.

Musk's shit AI product is going to tell them to investigate Detroit because of the prevalence of "trans mission" in the auto industry.

Trump just announced her replacement last week, no need? Just whip up hate while destroying education and people willingly let you destroy their advocates.

Nikola Tesla was working on proof of concept from 1900 until JP Morgan pulled project funding in 1917.

I'm a man. Staying with my wife at mt sister's flat while touring her city. Sister had 3 roommates. Went out and enjoyed the nightlife. Went to the bathroom in the dark at whatever o'clock and on my way back to our bedroom I went into the wrong door, and was in one of the sister's roomates rooms. Got super confused and couldn't find the door to the hallway again because there was all this kitch on the wall and I kept trying to find the door handle. Woman in the room was sleeping but she had a little dog that was growling and yipping at me, I was mortified at the thought of the woman waking up from the dog and asking wtf I was doing in her room so I just sat down against the wall and tried to find the door handle in the dark. Couldn't do it. Dog kept yipping louder. Woman yelling dog to shut up. Her boyfriend called and they had a quick conversation in the dark, he was drunk. This went on for about 15 minutes before she finally turned on the lamp next to her bed and found me, arms around my knees, rocking against the wall waiting for the inevitable explosion and freakout. She couldn't have been nicer and I left. We had a great laugh about it the next day when I apologized profusely over breakfast.

I can't imagine what 90% of people let alone 99.9% of women would have done in that situation but I appreciated how she handled it. Definitely top 5 "don't forget you did this" moment my brain pulls up from time to time in mortification.

In a radical departure from the past few thousand years...

When the music, the creativity, the stars and a story are unforgettable.

Instead of posting, then having to tediously copy/paste to different instances with similar communities, it would be nice (although potentially crazy spammy) to allow x-posting from one post. This may be less of a Boost idea and more of a Lemmy discussion, but if it can be enabled in Boost I thought that would be a nice addition.

TLDR; Oregon corporate tax has a minimum rate of 1%. This ballot measure would raise it to 3% and give $750 to each Oregon resident (including children).

Get ready for an Uber/Lyft level of corporate ads and media spamming to try to sink this common sense bill.

Other than "dont' use Godaddy", what do I need to know? I've never owned a domain or had a website of my own before.

  1. Domain registration/host recommendations?
  2. Web hosting recommendations? Should I mix #1 and #2?
  3. Website template creation suggestions? Have fairly simple needs like service offerings and contact forms but want something without rotating construction cones.
  4. What else should I consider? Security? e-mail?
  5. Am open to all-in-one for the above, just would like to understand tradeoffs, what to look for/avoid.

TIA

It’s a common misconception, but if you registered "Independent Party" you aren’t “independent” you are a member of your state’s Independent party, who has a platform and agenda you may or may not agree with. What you actually want is called an "unaffiliated" voter status. The good news is, all you have to do is...nothing!

LA Times had a good summary a few years back: https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-american-independent-party-california-registration-card-20180405-story.html

You don’t need to register with any party to show you don’t like R or D, do nothing or choose "unaffiliated if you want to be “little i independent”.

Twice in the last week videos I have viewed have been saved in a boost photos folder. I didn't request to save or download them at any point. Is this based on the site, internal vs. external browser choice, caching or something else?

Obviously is prefer videos not be downloaded if I don't try to save/download them.

It would be nice, and I don't know if it's because the functionality doesn't already exist in Lemmy, but it would be nice to be able to limit one's search to one's own comments/saved/upvoted/downvoted easily--the profile menu where these are listed would make the most sense. The search functionality to search all of lemmy and limit to local/all, etc. is powerful to find content, a particular community, but if I'm looking historically for an article I commented on or saved, upvoted, etc. it would be convenient if this were easier.

Thank you

Price range for retail seems to be $100-250 for IKEA stuff that will fall apart in 3 years, or $1,000+ for something better. Is there nothing in between? Would prefer to buy new with risk of bed bugs or other contaminants but open to other options if I'm missing something.
