Is it only a matter of signing up via VPN or is there more to it?

Same, but I figure I can check in once in a while on the few subreddits that I'm interested in. Some of the subreddits also have a presens on discord, so that could also be an option.

As personally being somewhere between a stoic, rationalist and emotionally-roller-coasterist, I don't think the "rationalists" you describe deserve to be called rationalists. I know the type, they're the one whose always right, because they're unable to see that they could be wrong. Not a big deal, just wanted to point out that rationalists are supposed to consider their emotions as well as logic. I think a better term for them would be pseudorationalists. Similar to pseudoscience vs science.

Anyway. I really like what you're trying to build here. Being nice to one another is such a basic and easy thing to do. Yet it amazes me how many people aren't able to do that on other sites. Not sure how active I'll be here, but I hope I can add something positive.

Someone told me that dfyx is a kind and gentle soul and sticks to the issue. Not sure if true, but many people are saying it.

That makes a lot of sense!

Aye, I'm using Jerboa and the searching is a bit unpolished. You can find communities here though: https://browse.feddit.de/

That sounds really useful! Could you give me some pointers to where I should begin to learn?

I'm exaggerating a bit, I think Lemmy still is "too complicated" for a lot of Reddit users, and that will keep Reddit alive. It'll be difficult for users to stop using reddit when they can't find a equivalent super obscure community on Lemmy.

I'll probably end up lurking on reddit for a while still..
