Owning a pet responsibly is like owning a car: there is the expense of regular maintenance, and then every so often you have to drop a wad of money for a major repair.

Don't get me wrong, my animals are worth it, but I think some first-time pet owners don't realize this.

Eventually, when the cats get older and no longer wash properly, we too will get a Hell Bag. I'm almost looking forward to it...

No idea about your cars, but my cats? Because they can eat them when I don't feel them fast enough in the morning and then I have to the vet because they can't yak them up or pass them.

I love the little gremlins, but they are both bonded rescue cats that have pica or something.

This is great, thank you!

Seriously, I doubt any doctor would recommend a patient with depression to take a "medication holiday."

I appreciate that some doctors are concerned that a med will lose its effectiveness because of tolerance, but can happen with any medication. That's also why there are multiple medications on the market.

Habitica for daily tasks (I like the RPG feel), gobin.tools for breaking down tasks into manageable increments, and the pomodoro app Focus To-Do to keep momentum. I use a paper calendar for appointments and dates and index cards to keep track of tasks that don't have a specific date involved.

NEDA tried that with their eating disorder hotline: it didn't end well...

Because it could literally be life or death, I wouldn't put it past them to take a page from the ED warmline and try using bots. It sure worked for NEDA... /s

Wait...that's an ADHD thing? I do this, and I often wondered why when no one did the same...

Just a guess based on my experience with Adderall: for me, Adderall primes the "motivation" pump, but I need to have a direction for the flow or I go all over the place. You were directing the flow until you went on vacation, and then you were still taking the meds, but there wasn't the impetus to direct the flow. (And, there shouldn't have been--you were on vacation!)

So, in addition to other suggestions, could the following week been getting readjusted to directing the flow? I'm glad it was a temporary issue, though!

I unapologetically have pill caddies for my morning, noon, and night pills--no way I'd remember or keep track without them.
