Slight pedantism, but a 6.25% raise compounded year over year would equate to a 27.44% raise after four years, inflation not considered. A 5.73% annual raise would equate to 25% after 4 years.

Yeah, I also hate back-button hijacking. I suspect some websites do it to artificially force more page views for ad revenue. Try a long-press on the back button to view the history for that browser tab and click on the most recent page you think won't redirect.

The reason your car crumples so much when some idiot hits it is to protect you. The more energy that goes into deforming parts of your car, the less that goes into accelerating your meatbag, preventing injury.

The next generation of cable Internet (DOCSIS 4.0) should be better in this regard, promising symmetric speeds.

Rotary valves are more present in the musical instrument world, where they are used on French horns, some trombones, and some tubas.

On the topic of unconventional valves in automotive engines, I'd recommend taking a look at Koenigsegg's Freevalve technology.

Down in Palm Beach county there's still occasionally people who hang out on overpasses over I-95 holding Trump banners on the bridge over rush hour traffic. This was happening in 2023 when we weren't even in election season.

He doesn't need to have watertight censorship of outside sources to have meaningful control. The USA has relatively little censorship and we still have a sizable population that are happy to accept any old bullshit as fact, without any impetus to question or validate it.
