They didn't actively remove it, they just didn't reimplement it. Streetpass seems like a lot of work to implement, and with the move away from miis it probably would have needed a complete overhaul.

Transformed permanents have the mana value of their front face. This was updated on the second visit to innistrad.
The mana value rider is there to prevent modern from abusing this. Modern decks have been abusing low cost (3 mv) cascade cards to instantly cast [[living end]] and [[crashing footfalls]] for years. Without the rider, you could easily spin a token into a few rhinos at 2, which would be a huge buff to those decks.
Nontoken could have prevented that too- I suspect they were just being extra safe with this wording. A discover 0 card would be insane in most eternal formats. This wording prevents you from hitting an animated [[mutavault]] to find your suspend cards, for example.

Yeah, I was mostly hoping for another aesthetic storage option in my house/base. Even if they didn't hold as much as a chest, a new visual option would have been cool.
I suspect there may be some technical applications for this implementation, but all I can think of is a funny place to hide cookies 😅
This is a tough vote, all the options are decent! I'm mostly between crab and armadillo, leaning crab. The armadillo is way cuter though.
I've thought about it more, and I agree entirely. There are too many ways "faster boats" could be useless. Consider me crabpilled.

Great reprint, but I've always hated this card at mythic. We're at least used to the extortion of good lands at rare!
I think it's good for certain secret lairs and sets like kamigawa. But it was definitely a miss for me in the past few instances. Especially jumpstart and eldraine. I remember the feeling of opening a sweet [[sneak attack]] only to realize the art was some anime husbando 😅
This seems hard to abuse, with the "any player" clause. I guess it's another wheel commander?
I use both frequently, and the size of the switch is a big feature for me. I carry a low profile case and no power adapter. Increasing the size would be a big mistake in my opinion- it would just be a worse steam deck without some really killer new features. In my opinion they should just offer larger joycons for people who want them!
I'm so glad they spotlighted Sidharth with these dinosaurs, he's really knocked them out of the park.
