Golden Corral is one of my guilty pleasures. It’s something that overcooked fried chicken, bland steak, and yeasty pizza. Maybe a nostalgia thing from going there a lot as a kid.

Yeah I don’t expect any of those sacks of meat and bones to wanna help working people. But it’s crazy the amount of business owners that wanted to wait till the election to hire again. Well, now they better put their money where their mouth is.
As for H1B, we had the same thing happen with virtual assistants. That trend seemed to die off pretty quick. Hoping the current trends change a bit in our favor.
Thank you. Yes, I’m a software engineer by trade in the US and really hope this new year and the new administration (not saying I agree with it) encourages businesses to hire again. Been applying and interviewing since July with no success. Many other devs I talk to that left/loss their jobs last year have shared the same experience.
Once I get that sorted out, I should be able to get insurance again. It’s just crazy that you need to be working to even attempt to be healthy and get the care needed.
If I don’t get my health in order, build better habits, and find a decent job this year, I’ll probably end up dead before 2025 ends. Somethings not right with my body but without insurance or an income to get a plan from the marketplace, either my heart, lungs, or Crohns will take me out.
Wow… I feel dumb. I’ve used Bruno for over a year now and never noticed.
From the video I saw of the incident, it looks like they were flying them from a safe distance to the crowd. But possibly some kind of interference or routine code bug caused some to drop and others to shoot out in random directions at full speed. As an FPV pilot, it’s crazy how fast they can pick up speed. I wonder if they lost all TX/RX abilities in order to turn them off. It happened to me once, luckily in a field alone and was only able to find it because of the stupid loud beeper I put on it.
I think drone shows are super neat, but there maybe needs to be a minimum distance regulation and required netting in front of crowds before we keep bringing the tech to events.
Well a NSFW filter exists for a reason. Since enabling it, I literally get none of it on any feed.
And like I said, my Home Screen and subscriptions are catered to topics I enjoy that show none of the shitty news. Sure maybe tech articles or stuff like that, but no doom and gloom. I get to see plenty of fresh content. Also depends on what sort setting you use.
And frankly, if I’m scrolling for anywhere near half an hour, it’s time for me to get up and do something productive for myself.
I’m a bit confused about bird flu’s spread. I keep seeing that getting sick tends to happen with exposure to infected birds, but does that mean that it can still be transmitted from human to human as easy as other flus?
I wish I could vape. This is gonna sound stupid, bc it is, but I’m a chronic asthmatic who has smoked for about 20 years now. Been intubated twice for asthma. And yet I still can’t put the damn cigarettes down. I’ve tried patches, gum, hypnotism, medication, you name it.
Vaping was the only thing that was helping when I switched but believe it or not, it was bothering me way more than a cigarette. Immediate throat scratchiness and shortness of breath. That doesn’t happen with smokes though. I’ve tried all sorts of vapes too. All with the same result.
Smoking is probably gonna be what takes me out and it sucks that I feel totally powerless. I will say though, that the book “The Easy Way to Stop Smoking” by Allen Carr got me off cigs for about 3 months. Then my grandpa died and it all spiraled back from there.
And most software is built using open source tools. I’ve had bosses who are just fine forking out tons of cash to AWS but cringe at the idea of donating $100 to something we use daily.
Gonna start using “vegetate” now whenever I want express desire for total nothingness.
Thumb thumbs for and from the dumb dumbs.
