I say this almost daily lol

Gotta say that the very NON-tech savvy people I know had one of these reactions to the change:

  • they didn’t even notice;
  • they like it better now;
  • they don’t care at all as they never open it.

That’s almost impossible.

They’re not gonna have a Windows situation with 2 settings apps, and they have no good reason to revert their changes, since it would be against the unification of the interface across iOS and macOS they’ve been pushing hard for years.

What do you mean by ‘fix’?

I haven’t noticed any noteworthy differences, by the way.

Was this accidentally posted on Lemmy from Mastodon because the community was tagged?

Soft disengagement like “I have other things to do” is a known bug that’s been around for a very long time, but I hadn’t seen it recently. (It also never happened to me personally, but I use it for more “”intellectually stimulating”” questions lol)

Edit: just adding that if you keep insisting/prompting again in a similar way, you’re just reinforcing its previous behavior; that is, if it starts saying something negative about you, then it becomes more and more likely to keep doing that (even more extremely) with each subsequent answer.

Well, I actually think it’s too big; so you can’t make everyone happy. 🫠

AFAIK their free tier doesn’t do P2P.

Deleting your account wouldn’t really change anything. There’s no reason to unless you have some very strong moral problem with being associated with them in any way.

By the way, you can definitely have a Lemmy account on a different instance, no need for kbin (unless you like it there, then that’s great). Their views shouldn’t have any effect on the other Lemmy instances.

I have no idea, but I’ve seen many people incredibly pro-China who are not Chinese or have any association with China. It’s baffling but it is a thing!

Aphantasia is the inability to create mental imagery.

For discussion, research or memes.

Example: I have a community c/[email protected]

Searching for these on other instances like beehaw.org or lemmy.one:

Gives No results. even after waiting several minutes and trying multiple times

I had this problem with [email protected] too, but now it seems to work as expected! So this begs the question: is there a delay before the communities can be discovered? How long do you have to wait in general?

The study, led by researchers from UNSW Sydney and published in eLife, found that the pupils of people with aphantasia did not respond when asked to imagine dark and light objects, while those without aphantasia did.

Link to the actual research article referenced above here.

Abstract

The pupillary light response is an important automatic physiological response which optimizes light reaching the retina. Recent work has shown that the pupil also adjusts in response to illusory brightness and a range of cognitive functions, however, it remains unclear what exactly drives these endogenous changes. Here, we show that the imagery pupillary light response correlates with objective measures of sensory imagery strength. Further, the trial-by-trial phenomenological vividness of visual imagery is tracked by the imagery pupillary light response. We also demonstrated that a group of individuals without visual imagery (aphantasia) do not show any significant evidence of an imagery pupillary light response, however they do show perceptual pupil light responses and pupil dilation with larger cognitive load. Our results provide evidence that the pupillary light response indexes the sensory strength of visual imagery. This work also provides the first physiological validation of aphantasia.
