OP could get constipated by doing a bunch of opioids. Obviously not recommended.

Great story. I relate to a lot of it, especially the realizations that: 1) My relationship with alcohol had taken a lot from me; and 2) Alcohol is incompatible with how I want to live my life.
There just isn't any joy in parenting, hiking, or writing if you're nursing a debilitating hangover.
You're right. The fediverse is definitely in a better position to ward off the suck.
Happy birthday!
I totally get what you mean. "Grab a drink" -- yeah right.
Hoping you can find a better and more fulfilling way to treat yourself today.
Wow! That's awesome. Keep it going! And IWNDWYT.
By now, we've all been around the internet long enough to know that good things never last. That's really life: Everything's impermanent. Lemmy will probably suck someday, as will much of the fediverse. But I'm grateful it's good right now and for the foreseeable future.
I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the way Reddit and Huffman, in particular, handled this mess.
I was bracing to try out the official Reddit app or, at worst, become an occasional desktop user.
But Reddit's heavy-handed, disingenuous, combative approach turned me off. Probably forever.
The fediverse feels like how Reddit once did, anyway.
That's awesome. Thanks for the recommendation. I'd love to try this out. Going on the gift list!
Want to second two things here: Extending the back and tightening the waistband.
I use an osprey day pack when I'm solo day hiking. For the first few times, I didn't extend the back, and I really felt it. I fixed the issue to good results.
Tight waistband has also immediately helped my back and shoulders.
But I also gotta say that I carry my daughter on my back for two- to six-hour hikes, and it's just tough. I find it harder than backpacking because the total weight is more than I typically carry, even for a couple of nights. And she's not static. She moves her weight in weird and uncomfortable ways. Sometimes it hurts.
Everyone in this thread crushes it compared to me. I mostly use Peak dehydrated meals, which are pricey. Good on all of you!
Never used it, but I could see it being nice. I'll never really get used to carrying out used toilet paper in a Ziploc bag. Just feels kinda gross and weird. But the time in the wilderness is always worth the price of admission.
Are you gonna have contraband shoved up your anus?
